Nika's pov

As my eyes fluttered open I realized I wasn't in my room. The panic though left my body when I realized I was in a familiar room. Shane's room. Speaking of she is no where in the room so I guess she's already up. I turned around and stared outside the balcony. The curtains blocked the sun from blinding me with much light although it was quite bright in here. It is also pretty cold too so I gripped at the sheets and pulled them closer to me to feel some type of warmth. A sense of warmth and softness captured my body making a small smile appear on my face. I looked at the time and saw it was 10am so I decided to go inside and see what Shane was up to. I got up slowly and out on a sweater before i went towards the kitchen only to be met with an asleep Shane on the couch with one hand covering her eyes as her light snores filled the room and the other had fallen from the couch and was touching the floor slightly. That girl only snores when she's exhausted so she must've been pretty tired from last night. I know for a fact that my head is pounding like crazy and my body hurts too from how tired I am. I can see the reason why all this is happening on the coffee table. Last night we bought two bottles of whiskey and sat down to the couch watching some trash tv series while laughing at practically everything. To be honest I had fun last night. Like a lot. Shane is a person who I can feel normal and relaxed with and not the famous basketball player everyone knows. With her i never feel uncomfortable or uneasy. She always makes sure that I am okay first and then proceeds to do something. I probably never even cared to check the time before falling asleep. So I am not sure at what time I actually got some sleep. Since Shane was still asleep I decided to make us some breakfast cause she deserves it for putting up with drunk me last night. Honestly I must've just been saying stuff that do not make sense but I really don't remember much. There was a song stuck in my head and I can't remember how it is called. I just started humming that song while making some eggs and bacon for the sleepy girl and me. I started humming the song out loud in case I would remember the song "whenever I'm alone with you.." As I got the first plate ready I made a turn dancing and humming. Suddenly I heard "..whatever words I say I will always love you". As I turned around scared I saw Shane leaning against the doorframe. Her sleepy eyes looking right into mine. "How do you know that song?" I asked amused and she chuckled at me. "It's Adele. How could I not. Besides I really like that song" she said with a soft and tired smile. I panicked for a bit so I just stopped looking at her. "I um made breakfast if you are hungry" I offered. "Oh thank god I'm starving. Thank you Muhl" she said and took a sit with a small smile as I returned the expression trying not to scream from how nervous I was already with her in the kitchen. I made a plate for myself as well and sat down next to her. The sun was coming through the curtains of the small window in the kitchen making the atmosphere calm and cozy. I couldn't help but stare at how the sun rays hit Shane's face making me focus even more on her and notice how the light complementa her characteristics. Her green eyes deflecting the sun. Her features in general. She is truly gorgeous. Mesmerizing dare I say. I realized I was staring so I just focused on my plate but not long after I heard "found anything interesting in my face Croatia?" She asked. I felt my cheeks flush at both the nickname and the fact that she knew I was staring at her this whole time so I decided to play it cool. "Nah. Boring as always" I don't even know how I managed to tell such a lie. Her face was the most beautiful thing I have ever laid eyes on. It was so interesting so beautiful I could state at her eyes forever probably. "Mhm keep lying to yourself Croatia" she said with a smile on her face while eating a bite from her breakfast. Once again I feel my cheeks flush and I just don't say anything else. Just then her phone started to ring and her once calming face was now serious. Too serious. She picked up the phone with a confused expression and left the room. I sat there trying to figure out what could she possibly have to say to someone so as for me not to hear. Soon enough I heard a sound like something fell. I went to check on Shane and saw her phone on the ground and her grabbing the wall for support. "What happened?" I asked concerned but she didn't answer me. She just stared at the floor I'm guessing trying to gather her thoughts. After a long minute she looked up and picked up her phone. She put on a sweater and her shoes and she went to leave only to find me in the way. Her eyes looked hurt. "I need to leave. If you want you can stay here. I'll be gone for a bit" she said and left me her keys before brushing her shoulder against mine and left the apartment. I heard the door close with force making me flinch slightly. I stood there dumbfounded. I have never seen her look like that again. She seemed so far deep in thought. It's actually concerning. I decided to give her some space in case it was an emergency with her family or something. If she needs me she knows I'm one call away. I tidied up the kitchen and sat down to study a bit cause I was far behind on homework with all the practices and the big east coming up. I sat down on the couch with my laptop and my notes and started studying for an upcoming test this week.

*4 hours later*

I was exhausted to say the least. My head was crying for help at this point. I got done with most of the missed projects I had and I had also studied for the test that was coming up so I was in a pretty good spot. All of a sudden my phone started to ring and when I looked at it Paige's icon popped up. "Hey p what's up?" I asked stretching a bit. "Hey so me and Azzi were going at chipotle. You wanna tag along?" She asked and honestly I could get out of the house and try to relax for a bit. Try to stop thinking about Shane. "Yeah sure I'll be over in ten" I said and once we said goodbye we hung up. I decided to wear a grey hoodie of Shane's and my black sweatpants that I had already brought over. Once I smelled her perfume on the sweater I wanted to call her and tell her I miss her already. But that wouldn't do any good. I sighed and left the dorm trying to focus on anything else than her cause I really needed to stop thinking about her this much. I knocked on Paige's door and waited for her to open up. I checked my phone to see if Shane had sent me anything but to no avail. The door swung open revealing a pretty happy Paige. "Hey Niks come on in" she said and I followed her inside "what's wrong with you? You seem a bit unhappy" she said while she sat down. "Well um Shane had to leave early today and it seemed pretty serious so I guess I am just worried for her. It's probably nothing I'm just getting in my head" I said trying to play it cool while I clearly know that it tears me in the inside not knowing where she is and with who. "Oh yeah. Shane does that a lot when something's pushing her. When she is pressed up about something she often leaves and comes back after a few hours. Could be days even before she tries to contact someone. I learned the hard way believe me" she said looking at me sympathetically. Just then the door from the corridor opened and Azzi walked in. "What are you losers talking about?" She asked as she sat down next to Paige giving her a small peck. I smiled at them before Paige said "Shane is missing again". Azzi nodded before looking at me "it's really nothing to worry about. Once she had gotten into a fight with her father and disappeared for two weeks. Her excuse was that she wanted to take care of some unfinished business and clear up her responsibilities. It's normal for her. She is a person who needs space cause she doesn't get mad often but when she does it's over for everyone" Azzi said with a tight lipped smile. I nodded understanding completely what the two were talking about cause that's exactly what I do when I get angry. "I understand. It's just that I am worried about her and I just wanna know if she's okay. I sound like a total stalker right now" I said chuckling to myself. "No no no. You care for her and that's beautiful. It's just that she isn't the type of person who will open up or commit to something easily. The fact that she is so soft with you is literally a miracle. Give her some time and you'll see that she will open up. It's just hard for her to do that" Azzi explained while Paige nodded listening to us talk. "Yeah I know I have to give her time. That's what I am trying to do" i said. "How about we go out and grab some food. Maybe ball a little bit. You know to take our minds off of the stress and all this shit. What do y'all say?" Paige asked. Honestly it would do good to me not thinking about her for a bit. "Yeah I'm in" I said and Azzi agreed as well. "Come here Nika we gotta have a group hug first. You seem like you need it" Azzi said and I laughed before I launched my self at them. And we all laughed as we laid back to the couch while Paige groaned cause both me and Azzi had completely crashed her. These are moments that make me feel like these people are true friends and care about me truly. I love them and they love me. Thank god for them cause otherwise I would've lost my mind.
