Nika's pov

I blushed only to the thought of what happened earlier. I mean that girl is hot and she so knows it. "Nika? Hellooo?" I saw a hand wave at me before I got back in to the topic. "Huh? What?" I asked completely clueless on what we were talking about. "Your opinion? On Shane" she asked again but now with a smirk on her face. "oh she so totally fell in love" Paige commented with a smile from ear to ear. "First of fuck you. Second yeah she's cool" I said as I pointed at Paige. She put her hands up on defense still smiling and I groaned as I knew that I wasn't going to hear the end of it. You see being her roommate isn't exactly great cause she gets to tease me every day all the day. "Can y'all just concentrate and go on with our practice?" I asked and they both laughed silently as they nodded. I didn't understand why they laughed as I shot the ball and saw it swish through the net. I smiled at myself as I went to collect my rebound still in my own head but I almost froze as I got back to reality and saw who was sitting on the bench talking with Geno before stopping to get my ball. "This yours?" She asked with a tired smile. A large black duffel on her side as I remembered she had practice earlier. Her in a white sleeveless shirt tired from practice and her tattoos visible made me gulp before nodding with a small smile. "yea thanks" I said lowly as she gave me my ball. "Go hoop basketball star. I'll be watching" she said with one of those killer smiles she always had. I nodded with a laugh before getting back on court. "So that's why y'all were laughing huh" I said as Paige pushed me around laughing "She's got you marked up Niks. And believe me when I say that this girl doesn't stop untill she gets what she wants. That being said it is not always bad" Azzi said before Paige added "And she wants you to be hers. So I guess good luck. Just so you know when we were in Minnesota all the girls wanted me of course as you know. BUT they wanted more to get laid by her. Imagine how many girls is that. Basically my whole school wanted her". "She did too at some point" Azzi said making me gasp as Paige flipped her off. I laughed hard as I continued my stretches now fully aware that a pair of eyes was glued to me. "No way the great Paige Bueckers wanted Shane the ice hockey player" I said shaking my head as Azzi laughed. "Alright I did at some point. But can you blame me? I mean look at her" Paige said and I turned around only to be met with her eyes already on my body before finding my eyes. She smirked when she caught me staring and I smiled only to the thought of her checking me out. "So y'all say she wants me and that I should be careful cause she is a player. Right?" I asked and they both nodded. "But she doesn't often look at girls the way she looks at you. I mean I think she likes you. And not for only a hookup so that's big. Cause that girl right there isn't exactly someone who does relationships" Azzi said as we both stretched. Paige wandered off to Kk so they could chat a bit. "Alright practice is over people. Hit the showers!" Geno shouted and I let out a breath as I saw him getting in his office. "Today's practice was fucked. I hope y'all agree cause if you don't then we ain't friends no more" Kk said making us all laugh a bit before agreeing. "Honestly I can't feel my arms" I said and Azzi laughed as some girls said they were feeling the same. I got inside the shower letting the cold water run on my back. The only thought that crossed through my mind was her. What if she was here with me. Her tall figure towering over me as the water fell down on us. I quickly shook my head to get the thought away before I turned of the water and stepped out to change. I got changed and grabbed my backpack before heading outside. I saw Azzi, Paige and Kk talk to Shane but once I stepped out Shane's eyes were on me. "Hey girl boo we going to Cane's you coming?" Kk asked and I nodded with a laugh as a response. "I ain't riding with y'all though cause there's no way I'm gonna be in the backseat with you nor shotgunning with Paige as a driver" I said but before anyone said anything else Shane said "That's alright beautiful you can ride with me. I can give you the ride you wanted this morning" she said showing me the helmet and I could only nod as a response as if a cat caught my tongue. "Great! We'll see you there then" Azzi said and Shane nodded before she took my bag from my back and put it on top of her duffel bag and around her shoulders. "Let's go princess" she said as the others had already left. I was at a loss for words right now. "You don't have to carry my stuff you had practice earlier too" I said lowly not being sure of what to say to her as I walked beside her. "Yeah but I'm stronger than you and taller. Which means I can carry more than you. And let's not forget that a pretty lady like you should never have to carry her bags on her own. Now let's put you the helmet on so you don't get hurt" she said as she carefully placed the helmet on my head before clipping it under my chin before giving me the bag to put on my shoulders so she could drive. "Are you sure you don't want to give me your duffel bag?" I asked as I saw that she was trying to sit comfortably "Nah there's no way" she said and she shifted one more time before starting the engine "You ready?" She asked and I yelled a yes cause I was sure she wouldn't hear me otherwise. Cane's was fifteen minutes from the gym so here we were for the next fifteen minutes with my hands wrapped around those perfect muscles. The same muscles I imagined in the shower traping me against the wall as the water fell upon us. And the same muscles I saw this morning as she stabilized herself against the table so she could try and fix my laptop. I can clearly see what the other girls see in her but I really didn't want to fall for this girl. Cause if she was a true heartbreaker I don't think I could handle another heartbreak this soon after my breakup with Alleyne. I sighed as I looked around placing unconsciously the side of my head on her back. The next thing I knew was that we were at Cane's. Damn did I zone out for the whole ride? "Can you get down on your own?" She asked as she turned around to face me. I shook my head no and she gave me her hand so I could stabilize myself on the ground without falling to my face. She took my helmet and backpack and slid the helmet on her bicep and the backpack on her large shoulders before signaling for me to go first. We searched for the girls for a few minutes before we finally found them sitting on an outside table. "Hey there strangers" Paige said making Shane laugh as she flipped her off before sitting down placing on top of the duffel bag my backpack so it wouldn't touch the ground and the helmet beside my bag. "Y'all are ready to order? I'm starving" Shane said as she grabbed her stomach. We all said yes and Paige and Kk went to order. "Is it that cold or it's just that I had a shower?" I asked feeling the air hit my skin. "You had a shower what did you expect?" Azzi said. "You had a shower? And you've been with a tank top all the way here?" Shane asked and I nodded slowly before she pulled out a jacket she had in her bag "Put this on before you catch a cold crazy woman" I looked at Azzi who was smiling like crazy as she saw the gesture "yea not one of my best moments" I said laughing a bit before nuzzling in the jacket as her perfume intoxicated me. See these are the small things that make it hard not to fall for her. "Azzi how's your leg? I see you're getting better on moving around on court" Shane said making Azzi to snap her look from me to her. "It's getting better slowly. Thank Janelle for that" she laughed a bit making me smile a bit knowing that this was a tough period for her and it was crazy that she could even have the courage to joke about it this early. "thank the Lord that you're okay that's all that matters" Shane said making me smile wider than before. I appreciated the fact that she cares so deeply about her friend. Soon Paige and Kk came back with the food on two plates and we started taking what belonged to who. "We gon say grace?" She asked Paige who nodded as we held hands. I can't see how this girl could be a player. She says grace and cares deeply about her friends. I mean she met me 6 hours ago and she is already concerned about me being sick after riding her bike in a tank top after a shower. Come on this is not a player this person is a saint. Paige said her prayers before we all said amen and dug to our food. Nobody spoke until the last one had finished with their meal. See the time when we eat is something like a big moment that needs to be appreciated. "Man I'm full" Kk said as we all agreed. "Um Niks do you have anywhere to go tomorrow cause I wanna bring a girl over" Paige said before briefly looking at Azzi. Wait. That was .... weird. "Uh yeah I'm sure I'll find somewhere to stay" I said as I started thinking. "You can come to mine if you want. My roommate is staying with her girlfriend for a couple of days" Shane offered and I looked at her with a wide smile. "Yeah that would be great" I said and she smiled at me as wide as I was. I looked at Azzi who was staring at us like a proud parent which made me let out a laugh. God I'm going to fall for this girl much easier than I wanted.
