Nika's pov

"So how are you feeling for tonight?" I asked Shane as she was making lunch. I was currently sitting on the counter and we were talking about anything that came to mind. "Well you know. I am anxious that's for sure. But other than that I'm okay" she said looking at me briefly before returning her gaze on the pan with the eggs. I furrowed my eyebrows a bit "Are you sure? You seem... Off?" I said hopping down and circling my hands around her waist and rested my head against her back. She turned around and hugged me tightly kissing my head. "I promise I'm okay baby. Now let's eat!" She said giving me my plate and grabbing hers as we sat at the kitchen table. "I love it when you cook" i said stuffing my mouth with the eggs and the bacon. She slightly laughed at me before she wiped my lip with her thumb. "You're so messy. I love it" she said smiling. I smiled back at her before continuing eating like it was my last meal. As we ate we talked about our studies and the upcoming tournaments trying to make a program for the both of us. In the middle of the conversation i stood up and sat on her lap hugging my knees as she held me. "Alright let's get these bad boys to the sink and you to the couch" she said after a while and I got up leading the way to the sink. She slapped my ass lightly making me yelp in surprise before laughing at her. She came up behind me and gave a kiss to my neck before placing herself to the front of the sink. "I wash you rinse?" she offered and i nodded. Steady and slow we finished finally and made our way to the couch to cuddle before she had to leave. She grabbed the blanket midway and threw it on top of us as we got settled. I was practically on top of her with the only difference that my head was at the crook of her neck and she was way taller than me. Her hands were wrapped securely around my waist and her eyes stayed on me the whole time we continued to talk about tests and quizzes that we had to take. I don't even know how much time we spent like that before I dozed off. At some point she moved and murmured something to me that I didn't hear before she got up. She left me a note saying that she was leaving to get to the arena. I read it as i woke up half an hour later. I called Paige and told her to come over to get ready as i went to take a shower. Paige got in and searched for what to wear as i did my hair. An hour later we were almost ready and we would possibly be late as well if Paige didn't hurry up a bit. "Come on! We're going to be late!" I shouted as I grabbed my keys for the car and Shane's sweater with her number on the back. "Jeez I'm coming wait!" Paige shouted from inside. She came out trying to put on her shoes while heading to the door. "You're sure we have everything?" She asked and i nodded before she opened the door leading the way. We were going to Shane's home game tonight. We have been super excited about it for about a week now. I sent a quick text to shane letting her know we're on our way before i got in the passenger seat waiting for Paige. "I'm so excited about this! The girls are already there though so we better hurry. They are keeping us our seats so we're good" Paige said. We took off and sooner than we thought we had arrived at the stadium. The arena was full and loud. Cheers could be heard even though the game hadn't started yet. Azzi got up from somewhere in the stands and got her hand up so she could wave us over. Paige saw her first and we made our way to the girls."Hey. Y'all ready?" Aliyah asked and we both nodded. I looked over at the ice watching my girl talk with her teammates. She was nervous and it was obvious. To be fair this was a pretty serious game. Or that's what she said. I don't know. "Nika how do you see our captain over there?" Azzi asked teasingly as she wiggled her eyebrows at me making me laugh. "She's nervous but other than that she'll do great!" I said as I returned my gaze to my girl who was now warming up her thighs. "Nika don't be getting any ideas now" Paige said making me roll my eyes at her. The exercises they did indeed made me feel things but i chose not to comment anything about it. As the lights closed for a minute we knew that the game was starting. The speaker announced the players of the other team first one by one and now it was the turn of our players. Everyone cheered as our girls entered the ice but when a certain someone appeared no one could stay in their seats anymore. "Our beloved captain! Best in everything she does and nominated twice for the best ice hockey player of the year ladies and gents.... SHANEE BROCKERR" he spoke excitedly as Shane skated her way in the ice waving at the crowd after talking to her teammates and doing her handshake with Ava. A huge and proud smile lingered on her face that showed she knew we were here with her. We all jumped out of our seats applauding for her. The smile on my face not daring to fade away. Soon the game started and let me tell you this shit was intense. Great stops were made and the defense was absolutely perfect. Until it wasn't. We started staying behind. And soon a goal was scored by the other team making Shane finally start to get pissed off. "Oh oh" Paige murmured lightly as we saw Shane get her mouthpiece off. She started running like crazy with Ava making the double effort that was needed and at the second attack Shane scored with a shot behind her back. "YEAH BABY" i shouted at the top of my lungs as the girls applauded. A time out was called and the arena cleared everyone going for a snack or bathroom break. We stayed there watching the arena get quiet. "Shane's so pissed dude. We'll tell coach you'll be sick tomorrow cause ain't no way she's staying with that anger tonight" Azzi said making my face flush red as Paige laughed her ass off. "Y'all are so inappropriate omg" i said refusing to look at them. The arena filled once again and the match started. Pur team came on the ice with more focus and will to win and that was clear. Their concentration was on top. Ava was in but Shane was subbed out making me furrow my eyebrows. She was talking with the coach as the girls tried their best at defending the score. Soon Shane was back in and another girl I don't really remember goes out. And the fight begins. Her and the other captain running like maniacs allover the ice. Shane had the puck heading for the goal but then- "WOAH. Looks like we had a collision over there. The two captains collided leaving Brocker on the floor" my heart dropped. Shane turned over facing the ice gripping the stick. The other captain was sat flat on her but trying to regain her focus. "Oh shit" Aubrey whispered as she got up as if it was gonna help her see what happened
