Not again

Nika's pov

It was the middle of the night. I hadn't had any sleep. Shane thinks I'm asleep and has sat for the past ten minutes and is just looking at the wall in front of our bed. She has gotten up a few times walked around then came back. She's playing with the mouthpiece the doctor gave her so as to not injure her jaw even more since she greets her teeth in her sleep. I can hear her let out breaths full in frustration. It kills me seeing her like that. I tried many things to calm her down before we 'went to sleep' but nothing seems to have worked. She's not letting me in and if she doesn't let me in she won't let anyone. She got up and went to rhe kitchen. After ten minutes she still hasn't returned so i decided to check on her finally. After getting my grey robe she had gotten me as a present I went inside. She was standing in front of the counter with a glass of water in hand just staring at nothing. "Baby?" I questioned. But she didn't respond neither did she physically show that she heard me. "Honey.." i trailed off again now taking a step closer to her. She turned around and looked at me as I saw her knuckles were white from gripping the counter. Her eyes red from exhaustion. I couldn't bare looking at her like this. It broke me in a million pieces "It's okay. Come here" i whispered and opened my hands for her to come in. She hesitated. I saw it clearly. But I don't get why. She slowly moved towards me burying her head on the crook of my neck I tightened my grip around her and she did too as if she thought I was going to leave her while all i was trying to do was help her. "Hey. Look at me" I said making her face me. "I'm not going anywhere. I'm here for you and I'm not leaving you" i reassured her. She didn't seem to believe me at first but once she saw how serious I was she just closed her eyes and pressed herself against me. I slowly led her to the bed and made her lie down with her head on top of my chest. I felt her hands grip tighten before she looked up at me. She half smiled at me not minding the pain in her jaw. I smiled back at her before i placed a small kiss on her forehead. Soon I realised she had fallen asleep as her little snores filled the room making me smile to myself. Not long later sleep consumed me as well leaving my worries for the next day to be handled. The next day came around. The sun sipped through the curtains falling straight to my eyes. I let out a small groan before realising I was basically on top of Shane. She was still sleeping a peaceful look on her face. Not the one that seemed hurt last night. I smiled and just studied her face with the smile stuck on my face. Not long after her eyes fluttered open. Her eyes narrowed adjusting to the light that was hitting directly her eyes before they fell on mine. Today was the fourth day of her recovery so she should be able to talk normally if she wanted to. She flashed me a soft grin "Good morning my beautiful girl" she said lowly as she  wrapped her arms around my waist and pulling me completely on top of her body. I bit my lip unconsciously "good morning bebe" i whispered as she pulled me close. She placed a soft kiss on my lips. When she pulled back i buried my head in the crook of her neck and we sat like that for a good five minutes until my phone started ringing. I let out a sigh before answering "Hey Nik. We were wondering if y'all wanted to come with us at dunkin? Me and Azzi just woke up and she's on her period which means we do what she wants and now she's dragging me to dunkin. Please come along I feel like she hates me and I really need some kind of emotional support" Paige said making me laugh. "Okay p we'll come" I said making shabe furrow her eyebrows. "Yeah bye" i said and hung up the phone. "We're going to dunkin. I want something sweet with my coffee and Paige and Azzi are also going. Get ready bebe" i said pecking her lips before leaving to get ready. A small groan left her lips making me laugh at her before i started brushing my teeth. As soon as i was done with my make up and my hair I went to pick an outfit from the bedroom. Entering the room I saw Shane only in her sweats adjusting her rings. "Okay stop looking so good or we're never going to dunkin" i said studying her body. She let out a small laugh before she kissed my cheek and put on her shirt making me groan. I put on a pair of jeans and a pink top before I went to the living room to find Shane sitting on the couch waiting for me. "Ready?" She asked as she looked up from her phone. She stopped at her tracks just to absorb me. I smiled at her waiting for her to get up. And she did. But with two long strides she made it over to where I qas standing and kissed me slowly. Not harsh so she wouldn't hurt her jaw. But just enough to show me she loved how I looked. "Come on baby. We're going to be late" i softly whispered earning a nod from her. She opened the door waiting for me to get out first which I gladly did. By doing so though she slapped my ass making me yelp before I turned around only to see her with a smug smile on her face making me roll my eyes at her. She laughed as she snaked her hand around my waist as we walked towards the elevator. With my practices and hers we did not see eachother much lately. The pressure was on an all time high. The times we actually saw eachother were little. So that's why I love it when we hang out. I missed being with her all the time. We got into the car and she gave the aux as she started the engine of the car. Her hand made it's way to it's spot on my thigh squeezing it lightly before smiling as she looked at the road. I laughed at her expression cause she looked like a kid that just got a lollipop. "What?" She asked glancing at me. "Nothing! You're just so cute" i said rubbing her cheek softly before giving her a small kiss. Sooner than I thought we had made it to dunkin. She waited for me to get out of the car and took my hand before we walked into the shop. We easily found Azzi and Paige sitting on a table and made our way to them. "Hey there! Long time no see huh?" Paige asked as she nudged Shane and hugged her to which my girl laughed and hugged back. We all sat at the table and the conversation begun with a common flow. "So how are you two doing?" Azzi asked as she took a bite of her food. Shane looked at me with a smile on her face mouth stuffed with food as well. "We're doing great honestly. The only bad thing is our schedules but we manage to make it work" i said smiling and taking a sip from my water as Paige flashed Shane with a grin. "What about you? How are things going?" Shane asked "we are doing pretty good as well. But because of my period lately I've been an ass to her. But she loves me so she tolerates me" Azzi said kissing Paige softly. Shane had a huge smile on her face really proud of her best friend. "Yo how's your jaw by the way?" Paige asked looking at Shane. "It's okay. I mean it does hurt but I'll live" she answered to which Paige nodded but what they didn't see the sweat that started coating her forehead. But I did. I placed my hand on top of hers slowly and softly caressing it with my thumb. "You two are going to be the death of me. You're my favourite couple" Azzi said grinning at us making both me and Shane laugh. As the time passed the more we caught up on with our friends. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Shane was sure as hell having lots of fun and I was just observing them as they were talking about upcoming tournaments and practices. "Oh speaking of I actually have a meeting with Janelle today and with my coach. Baby is it okay if you get back with them?" She asked getting up. "Yea baby it's okay. Be careful. I love you" i answered and she smiled at me before bending down to kiss me and tell me 'i love you too' before greeting the girls and leaving soon after. "Is she really that anxious?" Paige said as Shane had left. "What do you mean?" I asked as I furrowed my eyebrows. "When she is super anxious she tends to sweat and fidget with her fingers. You forget I'm her best friend" she said again. "Yeah. She isn't getting much sleep either. Last night I woke up three times and all of these times she wasn't in the bed. I don't know what to do if this continues this way honestly" i finally admitted really worried for my girl. "Look I understand where you're coming from but you gotta help in all the ways possible until one level. After a certain level you just let her come to you" Azzi said and I nodded. We chatted for a bit more before we decided to finally head back. We all needed to study. As I got back to the dorm I cleaned up some scattered clothes and leftover dishes that were on the coffee table before i finally sat down on the couch. I got on tik tok since I didn't have much to do and honestly i haven't been on tik tok for like two weeks i wanna see some drama.
