We were currently out at sea on Umbi's parents' yacht, enjoying the warm weather that seemed to have gotten stuck in mid-July instead of current end-of-September. Dean had his arm slung around my shoulder as I was leaning onto his chest, puffing on my Iqos, while we were sitting with Andrea Cambiaso, Fabio Miretti and his girlfriend on the sundeck. We had been sipping on some Aperol Spritz but the burning sun made it hit harder than expected and we were slightly tipsy. I saw Kenan jumping into the water with my cousin and some other guys while his fiancée looked a bit lost, not really knowing anyone. Cambiaso noticed me looking at her and did the one thing I didn't want him to do.

"Ey, Dilara! Come over, sit with us!" he shouted and waved at her to come closer.
"Um... hi?" she said shyly.
"Hey" I greeted her softly. "These are Andrea and Fabio with his girlfriend India, they're on the team too, and you know Dean" I said, pointing at everyone. I saw India rolling her eyes behind her sunglasses and quickly hit her with my foot to get that attitude out of her.
"Nice to meet you all" Dilara said shyly and sat down next to Dean, probably because he always came across as the friendliest to everyone.

"I'm surprised Kenan came" Andrea started and my head shot towards him, trying to send a glare.
"Oh... Why?" Dilara asked confusedly.
"Nah... You know... After he called the host's cousin a whore and said that I was next-" he said, but I interrupted him by standing up and taking Dilara's wrist to drag her away.
"Don't mind him, it's his humour" I tried to reassure the poor girl as I pulled her to the drinks area. I took two cans of Coke and threw one at her as she still looked pensive.

"What did he mean?" she asked and I waved my hand. To be honest, I was surprised she didn't know what was going on and why Kenan had kept that from her - because it sure was the first thing Dean and I talked about that evening.
"Nothing, it was just a stupid boy's quarrel between... Kenan and Dean... Boys..." I scoffed and downplayed it.

"So... How are you liking Turin?" I asked, in an effort to change the topic.
"Very much... Except for not knowing anyone, but I guess that will come" she sighed.
"I'm sure it will" I encouraged her.
"We... We could be friends...?" she asked, sounding almost begging and I raised my eyebrows.
"I don't think that's a very good idea" I chuckled and took a sip from my Coke.

"Why?" she asked. Girl, do I really have to explain?
"It just wouldn't look good from a PR point of view. I'm your fiancé's ex, that's kind of... weird" I tried to explain.
"Oh... But if feelings are genuine, why would you worry about PR?" she asked, seemingly not understanding my world. In that moment, it dawned on me why Kenan chose her - and I kind of envied her for her innocence. I had grown up a certain way, learning what was always the right thing to do, to say, how my image appeared in the public light. Kenan had been able to shake off that feeling from me when I was with him, but never completely. And he had adapted to my world when we weren't alone. Only now I realised how that might have weighed on him and that there were normal girls, easier girls to be in a relationship with than me.
