🎶 Stand By You — Rachel Platten 🎶gazzettadellosport Beatrice Agnelli was every Juventus fan today, as they had to witness the first team getting beaten by their youth team NextGen with a humiliating 0-4.
juventusnews It's just a pre-season friendly, it's just a pre-season friendly, it's just a pre-season friendly...🤞🏼
user1 Serves her right for selling off her ex 😡
user2 Don't get why she gets criticised, she's neither the coach, nor a player, how is she at fault?!
umbi_lambs lol she almost cried in the box 🤣The game had been a total disaster. But the show had to go on and right now I put on my prettiest smile for the guests greeting me at Uncle John's house after the match. I could see the people whispering under their breaths in every part of the room, but there wasn't much I could to except putting on a strong facade and assuring everyone that it was just a friendly match and the team would be up and running by the start of the season.
"Hey guys" I sighed as I slumped down on one of the couches where my friends were sat.
"Sorry, Bea..." Fabio mumbled defeatedly.
"I don't know what the hell happened but you guys just... sort it out" I replied. It wasn't a President's place to know positions and line-up tactics, that was the coach's job.
"At least we've been entertained by Giulia in other ways" Andrea said with a smug smile on his face.
"Urgh" I groaned and Giulia sent me an apologising funny look at which I smiled back."By the way... Where is Turkish boy?" Nicolo asked and turned around to scan the room.
"I... don't know... I would have seen him arriving, I was shaking hands with everyone over there" I mumbled and pointed at a spot near the entrance.
"He's probably too ashamed to show up after all the chances he missed" Fabio chuckled, but I shot him a glare.
"It's not like you sent him the best passes" I replied.
"Hey! He was standing everywhere but not where I expected him to! It was like... we couldn't communicate!" Fabio argued and raised his hands in defeat."Whatever" I huffed.
"You know what would surely cheer him up?" Andrea asked and popped a grissino into his mouth.
"What?" I asked and raised my eyebrow.
"You showing up at his place with some nice black lingerie" he chuckled and I stood up only to slap his leg.
"OW!" he howled and I shot him one last angry, but amused glance before walking away from them to slip away from the party."Hey! Where do you think you're going?!" Pierre, my godmother's husband, shouted as he saw me nearing my Alfa Romeo.
"None of your business!" I shouted back with a smile before climbing into the car and driving off. Kenan had switched apartments after his split from Dilara, but I knew that he lived in the building next to Di Gregorio... I knew way too much about everyone's business, sometimes I just wished I could live a nice and quiet life far away from everything I knew. Stay at home all day, waking up at 10 without a worry in the world, taking cooking classes to finally improve my kitchen skills, lounge by the pool in the afternoon..."Your destination is in 200 metres on the right" my navigation system echoed through the car, ripping me out of my daydreams. I skilfully parallel parked in a spot just an across the street and walked up to the downstairs gate. I pressed the button next to Yildiz, but noticed that the door was open, so I just walked inside and up the stairs until I arrived at apartment number 10, where a very confused Kenan was looking out the door.
"What are you doing here?" he asked surprisedly.
"I noticed our star player missing the party" I chirped and pushed my way past him inside the apartment. When I came in, I saw the TV in the living room, replaying the match from earlier today, pressed on pause.
"Oh" I just mumbled when I saw that.
"Yeah... I was just... I was a fucking embarrassment today" he huffed and his hand went through his hair."I wouldn't call you that" I said and turned around to look at him, but he just raised his eyebrows.
"You think that guy is worth of a 10-million-euros salary?" he asked, pointing at the TV.
"It's not just your fault! There are other ten guys on the team too!" I argued, trying to make him feel better. There was nothing worse than a football player with a cracked ego.
"But I'm the forward, I'm actually responsible for putting those damn balls into the net" he replied sternly, not budging."Fine" I huffed and slumped down on his couch, throwing my designer bag carelessly onto the floor.
"Ouf, if the fashion gods saw this..." he teased me and sat down next to me, with a healthy distance between us.
"That's literally the purpose of a bag, you know - to actually... wear it and not just flaunt it on Instagram" I huffed as I pulled out my phone."Anyways, your classic order from Don Ciccio?" I asked and bit my lip to hide the small smile. He was looking at me with twinkling eyes and the corners of his mouth were curled upwards.
"Yep, just like old times" he replied and I grinned.
"Just like old times" I repeated as I typed in the order on my phone. Back when we were together, after a bad game, we used to order in pizza and re-watch it, analysing bad movements or tricky situations. It had helped him grow into a better player and me in understanding the game from a different point of view."Sorry that I didn't show up at the reception... It's duty, I know..." he sighed as we waited for the food delivery.
"To be honest, no one really noticed except for the Italian guys" I chuckled. "Everyone was too busy gossiping about the game" I continued.
"Great, now they don't even care about their star winger anymore" he fake-whined, but I could see, that deep down, it was a fear of his. To be replaceable, to be forgotten.
"I care" I mumbled and fidgeted with my fingers.
"I know" he replied quietly and put his hand on my upper arm, making me look up to him.Unfortunately, our moment was interrupted by the bell ringing and Kenan stood up to receive our pizzas and I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. He returned with the boxes and opened the one on top.
"Thank God you always remember to tell them to cut them already. I always forget" he chuckled as he handed over my truffle pizza before pulling out the first piece of his mushroom one."Cheers" I said as we clinked our pizza slices and laughed.
"Let's go" he said and clicked on his TV remote as both our eyes turned to the screen to re-watch today's disaster. We talked a lot, Kenan pressing pause and rewinding key moments as he gave me insight on what was going through his head. The issues seemed to lay deep and there was a lack of chemistry between the players. There had been a lot of sellings and newcomers this transfer window and we had a new coach after Motta had retired for... private reasons, which I completely understood, but he didn't want the public to know them, not even the players. Which added to the frustration, because they felt abandoned by their star coach that had led them to treble glory just last season.I dreaded the 90th minute coming, because it would be time for me to leave then, but it inevitably rolled around. It seemed that we both dragged on the conversation about the game and the upcoming season, for longer than necessary, not wanting to let go of this moment between us right now. But I was unsure of what to do, really. I couldn't just jump onto him and sleep with him now, even though I really wanted to do that. There was so much still between us that needed to be said and done and we were both kind of hiding from it.
"I... should go" I said after finally gathering up a bit of courage at some point.
"Yeah... Sure. Should I drive you?" he asked nervously as we both stood up from the couch.
"Um... no... don't worry, I came here with my car" I chuckled nervously.
"Right" he replied and nodded. "Text when you got home?" he asked.
"I will" I said and smiled shyly."Thanks... Talking- scrap that,... you. It's you. You make me feel better when I'm down" he almost whispered.
"I'm right here" I replied but couldn't ignore the slight sting in my heart as I thought back at the perfect relationship we had had. "Right where you left me" I added and walked out his door.
