Juve's first game back after the international break was against Milan at the Meazza and I wasn't going to miss it. It was always an important game and not too far away from home, so I decided to arrive in the city already in the afternoon. Milan was much more modern than Turin - while Turin was really an Old Lady (like our club): elegant and timeless, Milan was much more avant-garde and bubbly. It wasn't my favourite city in the world, but fun to spend time in from time to time.

A lot of my friends also lived here as most of them studied in Milan at some fancy private uni before being destined to take over their family businesses. Only lucky me was already allowed to work at 19 instead of partying and enjoying my youth every night and day.

"Oh, look who's here!" I heard Paola, a girl from my rather extended friend group say as I walked down the stairs of the VIP zone to my seat. My eyes looked at where she was sitting, recognising some familiar faces around her - including my ex-boyfriend. Not a surprise, they all held season tickets in the box, unfortunately rooting for the wrong team though.
"Hello" I said friendly to everyone and waved my hand, taking my seat in the row behind them.

"How's the job going?" Paola asked as she turned around to me. She was the nicest of the group, the one I always got along best, but I just didn't like that she always hung out with the others - and she couldn't keep her mouth shut about gossip, which was a reason why I never spilled anything too private about my life to her.
"All good, it's a lot, but I'm happy. It's what I'm supposed to do" I replied and pressed my lips into a fake smile.

"And with Dean? You're surely seeing more of him now! I ship you guys so hard!" she gushed and I could see Giorgio, my ex, roll his eyes.
"Nope, we won't ever cross that line" I chuckled. "But I am seeing someone else" I added and Giorgio turned around, raising his eyebrow.
"Well, it can't be anyone from our group, I would know" he muttered. My eyes shifted to the pitch, where the players had started walking out onto the field, while the benched ones quickly took their seats and I saw Kenan sitting down next to Dean.

The first half wasn't eventful in terms of goals, but a Milan player got a red card, which was met by heavy boos and criticism from the crowd in the stadium, while I only grinned to myself. It was still a tough game in the second half though, until Locatelli managed to open the score with an assist from Weah. A few yellow cards were handed out in the next minutes but I only focused on Dean who was warming up on the sidelines. Please let him get his debut, please, I thought to myself, crossing my fingers.

And then there he was, running back to the bench to get rid of his warm-up kit and get into his black and white jersey. I stood up and covered my nose and mouth with my hands, unbelievably excited to witness my best friend's Serie A debut. When the sideline assistant held up the board with the green number 13, I couldn't hold back anymore and started cheering and clapping, earning me a few glares from the people around me. The VIP box was usually very calm and composed, but I didn't care in that moment - in the end, I was just a girl wanting to watch her best friend play football.

Not much happened anymore until the final whistle and I clenched my fist victoriously, knowing that we were bringing three points back home. The Juve players applauded their away fans before making their way back to the tunnel and I also hurried downstairs.

"It's been a while, Bea" I heard Giorgio say behind me as we walked down to the changing rooms where I wanted to say hi to Dean (and Kenan) and snatch away the two of them to drive back to Turin with me.
"What do you want, Giorgio? How is Signora Pignatelli?" I snarled, reminding him of his very unethical affair with an older, married woman.
"It was a stupid mistake, Bea! She seduced me!" he tried to excuse himself but I wasn't having it.

"Hey!" I exclaimed when I saw Dean and Kenan walking towards me.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Dean immediately asked, before even greeting me and giving me a chance to congratulate him on his debut, standing face to face to Giorgio. Kenan looked at the scene a bit confusedly, trying to understand what was happening.
"Chill, it's alright" my ex replied annoyedly and shoved Dean away a bit before looking at Kenan.

"And who are you?" Giorgio asked him.
"I could ask the same" he replied, seemingly unimpressed.
"I'm Bea's ex" Giorgio replied proudly and I covered my eyes with my hand - this situation was so embarrassing.
"I'm her new guy" Kenan replied nonchalantly and I quickly uncovered my eyes again, looking at him in shock. What the hell?! We had agreed to keep this between us?! I mean, we had both told Dean about it as he was both our best friend, but still!

Giorgio burst out in laughter, seemingly thinking this was a joke, but our three serious and confused faces got him to stop.
"Are you being serious?" he asked me, but I was at loss for words, not able to come up with a witty comeback.
"A Turk?!?!?!" Giorgio added, almost shouting, but I quickly shushed him down.
"I thought you didn't know who I was?" Kenan asked back, crossing his arms in front of his chest. Giorgio just looked him up and down again, curling his upper lip, looking kind of disgusted.

"Bea, I'm not saying this as a jealous ex but as someone who's known you all your life - you can't be serious about this. Your position, your pedigr-" he started, but Dean cut him off.
"Thanks for your input, we'll get going" he snarled and pushed me forward, grabbing me by my shoulders. My head was spinning and I turned my head to see where Kenan was as we walked outside to the VIP parking lot. He was trailing a few feet behind us, looking at the ground, seemingly deep in thought.

Dean took my car keys out of my bag and made me sit down on the passenger seat while Kenan climbed into the back. I was still staring blankly ahead as the thoughts in my mind were swirling around like crazy. Had I really gotten carried away? If Giorgio knew now, it was only a matter of time until word would get to Uncle John. What was I going to tell him?!

"That guy's a dickhead, I'm surprised he was your type" Kenan scoffed at some point when we had gotten on the highway.
"Yeah, but still... That guy's kinda right..." I mumbled, finally managing to speak out something.
"You can't be serious" Kenan replied, leaning forward between the two front seats, but I stayed silent again now. He scoffed and turned to our friend. "Dean, say something!" he urged, but got a shrug in response.

"I can understand both sides and I'm not getting in between this" he said calmly.
"Thank you" I whispered to him, proving to me once again why he was my best friend.
"What?! You have to talk some sense into her!" Kenan argued, but Dean wasn't having it and shook his head.
"Please... Kenan... Give me time to think... I'm just... My head's a mess" I whined, feeling tears pricking in my eyes.

"This is unbelievable! A few days ago you told me you wanted to try and now you're closing off again!" Kenan shouted through the tiny car, making me slightly flinch.
"Well, you also promised to keep this between us and then you go tell everything to the first random guy that runs into you" I now shouted back after he had pushed too many buttons this evening.
"You're unbelievable..." he huffed and leaned back while I just leaned my head onto the car's window. Why did my life have to be so fucking complicated?
