🎶 Rolling in the Deep — Adele 🎶"What the hell are you doing here?" I hissed at Kenan as I opened his Jeep's passenger door.
"You should go to the eye doctor, you were squinting your eyes quite a lot over there" he chuckled and just nodded at the passenger seat.
"I know I need glasses, I'm just too proud to wear them and admit that my screen time is too high and ruining my vision" I mumbled, which made him laugh.
"You'd look sexy with glasses though" he chuckled as he reversed out of his parking spot."Will you tell me what you were doing here? Are you stalking me?" I huffed.
"I just wanted to see you... And since I wasn't invited to your Italian evening, I had to come up with something of my own" he replied and shrugged.
"You could have texted me the whole month you had off" I suggested and leaned against the car's window.
"I just don't know what page we're on, Bibi" he sighed."And that's why you went to visit your family who hates me and met up again with your ex, who hates me even more, if that's even possible?" I asked annoyedly.
"It's not exactly like Uncle John extended an invite to spend the summer with you guys..." he scoffed and I rolled my eyes. "And to be clear, I only ran into her one evening with my cousins, it was already weird enough, I don't need to relive it right now" he added and to be honest, that calmed me down a bit inside. He tapped around on his middle console screen until he pulled up a Spotify playlist. My Spotify playlist.
"Where did you get that?" I asked.
"Always had it saved" he mumbled, looking at the street ahead attentively.
"Yeah, well... it's changed a bit now." I huffed and crossed my arms in front of my chest. Taylor Swift's The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived started humming through the speakers and Kenan laughed.
"Bet you deleted King of my Heart for this" he chuckled and I scoffed."You find this funny?" I asked.
"And I don't miss what we had but could someone give-" Taylor sang in the background, getting ready for that heart-wrenching bridge.
"I miss what we had" Kenan muttered and gripped the steering wheel a bit tighter.
"And you'll confess why you did it"
"Then why'd you do it?" I sighed.
"Because I was a coward and afraid, how long will you hold that against me?!" he exclaimed angrily.
"I don't know! How long are we going to go in circles until we decide what we are?" I argued back."It was your idea to stay away from each other" he started.
"Yeah, but since you were the one who left I had hoped you would fight a bit more for me! Not disappear after I thought we were getting close again" I scoffed.
"I'm afraid Bibi... I didn't treat you right once, what if I fail again? You deserve so much better..." he mumbled defeatedly.
"I had better! I had Dean! We broke because of you!" I shouted.
"Oh! Saint Dean! No, Bibi, you broke because if you really loved him you wouldn't have cheated" he argued back angrily."I wouldn't have cheated if you hadn't come back in the first place!" I yelled and he shook his head, grinning sarcastically.
"You called, I answered, that's how it always has been. That's the hold you have on me" he replied underlining his words with his right hand's movements.
"You could have said no. You had a fiancée. Why did you come back?" I asked with a shaky voice.
"Because... because I needed to know... if we still had... something" he admitted and I rolled my eyes as I scoffed loudly."Unbelievable! You leave, get a new girl and take her to a city where your ex lives because you think there's still a chance with her. You know what they call men like you? Fuckboys." I said sternly.
"And what kind of woman are you? You destroy the friendship with your best friend just because you were lonely. And then you go and break his heart because you jumped into a relationship when you definitely weren't over your last one!" he shouted and both our anger was going through this roof's car."We're almost here" he announced more calmly.
"Thank God" I huffed when he took a turn not far from my apartment. This car ride had already been way too long. And the rest of it passed in utter silence, until we reached my apartment building's entrance, in which he parked, the rear of his car half-blocking the street. I wanted to crack a joke about him having become Italian, but I remembered that we were mad at each other, so I stayed silent."See you... around" I said and nodded at him in an effort to appreciate the ride home, but I would have preferred to have listened to any taxi driver's weird life stories rather than mine and Kenan's quarrels. I walked up to my building's entrance and fumbled for the keys in my bag, while still sensing the presence of Kenan's car behind me. But as I wanted to turn the key, it was opened up from inside, making me stumble a step.
"Oh! Look who it is!" my downstairs neighbour Samuele, who played for Torino, chuckled when he saw me. "And in sweet company!" he added as he saw the Jeep driving away - at least Kenan had been clever enough in trying to not be recognised.
"Let me inside" I huffed at him, but he blocked my way with a mischievous grin.
"Come on, that was a player's car. Who was it? Please say Yildiz" he asked amusedly.
"No, and it's none of your business" I snarled and pushed my way inside."Come on, why not?" he whined. "My girlfriend even ships you guys" he chuckled and I had to grin.
"Maybe she's finally starting to fancy a serious player and team" I replied and stuck out my tongue playfully.
"Ouch... right in the heart... after that season you guys just had..." he said, dramatically clutching his chest.
"Good night, Samu" I chuckled and waved at him before taking the stairs up to my floor.
