Cross was working in the lab with Bulma, surrounded by Piccolo's ship and a Saiyan pod, both partially disassembled.
"You know, I think I could build a gravity module into the training cab," Bulma suggested.
Cross shook her head. "Messing with gravity—"
Goku entered, his eyes lighting up. "That's a great idea! King Kai's planet was ten times Earth's gravity, and it did wonders for my training."
Cross went pale. "The last time I was caught in a gravity well, I nearly died. If not for my suit, I would have."
"Oh, relax, Cross," Goku patted her back. "We'll just start low. We can work you up to ten times. Your suit is great, but since we don't know what we're going to find on Namek, even a little growth will be great."
Cross pushed to her feet and sighed. "Remember what I told you about my body? Any stress that could break it causes me to shrink and lose mass. Gravity would destroy me, and weight training too."
Goku pondered this. "You also said doubling and halving your mass just needs a good meal to fix. What if you double your size and train like that? Then your shrinking would just be to normal, and you could repair it with food after."
Cross was silent for a moment.
"That's brilliant, Goku!" Bulma beamed.
"I...uh," Cross stammered, "suppose it's worth a shot. Most worlds don't react well to an eleven-foot-tall horned tiger, but it seems like you guys have seen weirder."
"Horned tiger?" Bulma said, confused.
Cross took a long breath. "I'm only half human. Because of my abilities, I can choose how I look, but if I'm going big, as the last of my kind, I think I'll go back to basics."
"So, like your true form?"
"Not quite," Cross took another deep breath. "I've been through a lot, and many have left a mark on my body. The shape I was born as and the shape I'm most comfortable with have changed a lot."
"So, like the animal people?" Bulma smiled. "It was this fad years ago where people turned themselves half animal. But it just fell out of fashion later. But the change was permanent."
Cross smiled. "You have no idea how good that is to hear."
Her clothes strained and tore as she soon towered over Goku, twice as tall, twice as wide, covered head to toe in white fur with pink stripes.
Goku smiled. "Let's fight!"
Her stomach rumbled.
"Goku! What have I told you about fighting in my lab!" Bulma fumed.
He laughed and scratched the back of his head. "Sorry, Bulma!"
"Besides, you just talked about how after growing, she needs to eat to stabilize it!"
Goku laughed nervously. "You're right, Bulma."
"And lastly," Bulma continued to tear into Goku, "you may be too uneducated to care about walking around naked, but I'm sure Cross does, especially as a woman. At least give me some time to get her new clothes!"
"Actually," Cross interrupted, "because I knew my clothes would be destroyed, I went with a...family-friendly...form. Perks of being a metamorphic."
Bulma paused, looked the spiral-horned tiger woman over, and laughed. "I guess...you did."
Composing herself, Bulma took a breath. "Still, let me get you something to eat first, and whip up a basic outfit so you don't have to be 'family-friendly' and can just be normal."
Cross laughed. "What is normal?"
Goku laughed.
Bulma laughed.
"Anyway," Cross headed to her work table and grabbed a strange wristwatch, handing it to Goku. He took it but looked at it confused. "In every dimension, I give my allies this bio-monitor. It lets me collect data on their biology, quirks, and so on. I can then use that data to make special training gear that can optimize their potential."
Goku smiled, strapping it on and doing a couple of practice punches with it. "So, what do I have to do?"
"Just your normal routine. When I have enough data, I'll let you know what I've created."
Goku nodded as Bulma walked off with Cross, whispering in her ear, "That charger of yours, can anyone use it?"
Cross purred.
