The massive blonde werecat's claws raked across Dragon Cross's chest, drawing blood, as Cross wrapped her arms around the beast's torso and pushed her back.
"Gohan!" Chi-Chi called from the ground. "Stop it! Is this any way for a young lady to act?"
The beast, Gohan, paused on her follow-up strike, but only for a moment before she slipped out of Cross's grip.
"Keep it up, everyone. If we can get through to the girl, get her to assert control, we'll be one step closer to taming the beast. Just keep reminding her how out of character she's acting for a young lady."
Yajirobe was off to the side, hand at his sword ready as he leaned on a tree looking bored. "Yeah, Gohan, it's getting late. Shouldn't you be helping make dinner?"
Gohan paused again, shaking her head and roaring, a beam of energy launching from her mouth and cutting a trench across the ground. From inside the gravity pod, Goku complained, "Come on, I can knock some sense into him. Let me out."
"You'd be even worse. You're not in maid form, Goku, and the full moon is out!" Piccolo chastised.
"Come on, I can transform!"
"No, Goku," Krillin shouted. "One giant monster is enough." A spark of inspiration hit him then as he turned to Gohan. "That's right, you're acting like a mindless monster, not a civilized girl. Knock it out!"
Gohan shook her head again, roaring and swiping at the air. Cross dodged back and used her tail to sweep Gohan's feet out from under her. As she fell on her back, her eyes took in the artificial moon in the sky, and that seemed to make her even angrier. She shot another blast from her mouth that dissipated into space.
The slap could be felt back on Earth.
"Cut it out, Gohan! This was your idea. Stop throwing a tantrum and trying to avoid your chores. You spoiled, bratty, mean little girl!"
It was Bulma.
Gohan froze, ready to strike her. Yamcha intercepted. "You keep your filthy paws off my girl."
Bulma's heart skipped a beat at Yamcha's bravery. Gohan's paw hovered over his face. It would be so easy to crush him here and now. But she couldn't.
"That's right, Gohan," Chiaotzu floated up to her head. "Breathe, look around. Is this the action of a mature young lady?"
Gohan was shaking, looking around at her hurt friends, the destruction, the beast bellowing a low, guttural sob as she dropped to her knees crying, shrinking. Returning to her former catgirl form, Chi-Chi ran over to hold her close.
"It's okay, Gohan, it's over. You beat it."
Her voice cracked as she sobbed. "N-No, I can still feel the beast raging inside, wanting to destroy."
Cross, still a giant dragon girl, took a knee. "That's normal. What's important is you remember to keep it locked up, to set an example for other girls. That you stand as an example of what it means to be a proper lady."
Gohan nodded, crying, as she gave a deep bow to everyone. "I'm sorry I was so much trouble."
Yajirobe yawned but took his hand off his sword. "Yeah, yeah, just go make us some food, alright?"
Piccolo charged a ki blast to destroy the fake moon as Krillin moved to the pod, releasing Goku. Cross switched to a quadrupedal dragon as Goku first became a maid girl, then a tan-furred cat, and Gohan followed suit as a slightly lighter blonde cat.
"Now we let the beast out just a bit and hunt up some food for the devastation."
"Devastation?"
Cross laughed. "S-Sorry, that's what you call a pack of dragons."
Goku was just glad to be out on the land and free to move, even if she was now some large cat. With a purr, she nuzzled the still-shaking Gohan and dug in her claws. "Alright, Gohan, time to hunt. Let's see who can bag the biggest game for our pride."
Gohan purred, nuzzling back as she dug in her claws, and the pair dashed off as Cross took flight.
"This is like a weird remix of the old days, isn't it, Bulma?" Krillin looked to her and Yamcha.
Yamcha and Puar laughed. "Rampaging monster, hunting to survive, yeah, it's very familiar."
Bulma leaned in to kiss the bandit's cheek. "Thanks."
He fumbled his words and laughed, scratching the back of his head. "N-No problem, B-Bulma."
Chi-Chi laughed. "You two are such a cute couple."
Bulma fumed. "We would be if he would just give me a ring."
Yamcha laughed nervously and dashed off. "I-I should keep an eye on those three."
Puar sighed. "You know he's helpless around human girls," and flew after him.
Bulma sighed. "What do I have to do to get that man to commit, grow a tail and fur?"
Yajirobe looked bored. "I mean, if you trained a bit, you could learn Cross's technique, then you could. Or you know, Puar's shapeshifting."
Bulma fumed. "I shouldn't have to change my entire style to suit him. If he can't accept me for who I am, that's his problem, not mine."
Chi-Chi made her way to Bulma's side. "A good wife supports her husband."
Bulma glared back incredulously. "Don't you make Goku farm and do all kinds of tasks that take time from his passion of fighting?"
She glowered back, a vein in her head throbbing. "Goku is a grown man. He can't just run around training all day. He has to grow up and show some responsibility."
"Well," Piccolo motioned to the path they took, "he's at least playing a good father right now."
"Eh, mother, technically," Yajirobe chimed in.
Chi-Chi glared at him furiously. "Just because he's a girl right now doesn't make him Gohan's mother. She wasn't the one in labor with a half-alien monkey boy with anger issues for 16 hours! I couldn't walk for a week after Gohan was born!"
Bulma laughed. "You should have stayed in touch. You know I'd have helped." Then sighed. "But that's Goku for you. He just sometimes vanishes into a memory hole where no one can find him for weeks, years at a time."
Krillin gave a mischievous smile. "Hey, you think if we hammer in when he's next in maid form that a good friend doesn't go no contact for years, it might stick in his normal form?"
Bulma grinned back devilishly. "I like the way you think, Krillin."
Shortly after, as everyone was taking a break, Chi-Chi approached Cross in the inactive gravity room she now called home due to her immense size.
"I'm not sure I like this new form you're teaching Gohan. He's just a boy. What if he internalizes all these ideas about being a proper lady and gets confused?"
"Would a daughter be so bad?" Cross asked calmly.
Chi-Chi shook her head. "It's not like that. He's my son, not my daughter. We shouldn't be confusing the issue."
Cross sighed. "Believe me, I can rela—"
"Don't give me platitudes. You're already a woman. What would you know about being a boy an—"
"I was born a boy."
Chi-Chi paused, then got even angrier. "So you know how bad this is. Look what it did to you!"
"The Maid Form didn't make me a woman. Years and years of mantling women and absorbing Pink Energy did. What the Maid Form did do was drag me out of a near-feral state where I was more concerned with mating and hunting than the events happening around me at the time, like an evil space wizard trying to revive an undead army and conquer Earth."
She took a long breath, reaching out her paw. "Maybe it would be easier to show you."

Chi-Chi hesitated but took the paw. Her mind flashed with images, primal and carnal. She was a shark, thrashing in a tank as the monkeys, the humans, chattered and pointed. She was a tiger, wild and free, until invariably some human would muzzle her and try to calm her with soft platitudes. She was one of them, weak and soft, the only evidence of her regal tiger self being her ears and tail. They had her dressed up in pointless outfits and had her fighting their battles. Then clarity, the rage, the instincts peeling back, and she was herself, but as a cat girl, a maid. It was humiliating, more pretending to be a girl, but every time she broke character, the beast surged back. Thoughts ranging from just killing her friends, to running away to hunt, to sizing up the males as potential mates. Until they admonished her, and she was able to push those feelings down, lift her head, and act like a proper lady again. Eventually, that became easier and easier. Even out of maid form, she still missed being a boy, wanted to return to her true self, but at least the beast was under control.

Chi-Chi took a long breath as the life she visited returned to her present, and she looked back to Gohan, in maid form, serving the boys.

"You know his rage bursts go beyond the great ape. Raditz proved that. If he doesn't master it, one day he may lash out and hurt someone he loves, and I or Korin's beans may not be there to heal the wounds."

Chi-Chi trembled but nodded. In her heart, she knew Cross was right. They could deal with any gender confusion later, but if Gohan didn't master the beast, he would grow to regret it.

After a moment she opened up to Cross, "I never realized how much you've been through, Cross. Thank you for sharing that with me."

"It's important for you to understand. Gohan's safety and well-being are my top priorities."

"I trust you, Cross. Just promise me you'll keep guiding him."

Cross nodded as Chi-Chi joined the others. After serving the others Gohan brings a large plate to Cross, giving a formal bow as she sets it down, "May i speak freely Ms. Cross."

She nods, "No need for formality with me,"

Gohan takes a long breath, "A lady is always formal."

Cross nods, "Carry on then."

Gohan takes another long breath, "Cross, am I really doing the right thing? This form feels so strange."

"Because it makes you a girl right? And that's not who you are?"

She nods.

Cross smiles "You're doing great, Gohan. It's all about control and balance. Remember, you're stronger than the beast inside. And the Lady is a bulwark against the beast. Premier decorum and civility vs uncheck primal rage and instinct. Master the beast and you won't need to keep yourself restrained by feminine decorum and edict."

Gohan purrs "I'll keep trying. Thank you for believing in me."

Cross smiles, and settles in to eat.
