Cross was playing defensively. She did have an advantage in her full suit against Cell, and her scanner confirmed it, but she was hesitant to strike with full force. After all, 17 was still a victim inside the monster's belly, and she was trying to find a way to force him out. Her strikes focused on Cell's stomach, hoping to cause some form of indigestion. Drawing on the power within her, she sought to find some energy among the many she had collected over the years. With each strike, she pushed that energy in, hoping to find something his body would reject, forcing him to regurgitate 17.
Semi-Perfect Cell gloated, "Do you know, Cross, in my time you were the first to fall, with that little credo of yours about never escalating a fight. It was your undoing."
Cross narrowed her eyes. "What do you mean, your time?"
Semi-Perfect Cell gave a sly smirk. "Haven't you figured it out yet? I'm from the future, though not the one you know that the boy spoke of. When he returned to his future, I stole his machine. Unfortunately, it was a bit small, so I had to revert to an earlier stage. I've been biding my time, feasting on people right under your nose. All those missing reports, all those towns that went mysteriously quiet—it was me, Cross. It was always me. With my brother and sister restrained, it was time to strike. Now, I simply have to wait you out, wear you down. You only have so much energy to call upon. Then, when my lovely sister becomes tired of waiting and watching, she will come to face me, and I will have her join me. Then I will be perfect."
Cross ground her teeth. "Perfection is overrated." She then stood back into a fighting stance, pulling her hands behind her in a claw motion, a ball of energy forming between them.
"Ka..."
Semi-Perfect Cell gave a playful smirk. "Oh, this old hat? You know, two can play that game. Ka..."
"Mi..."
Semi-Perfect Cell laughed, mimicking Goku. "It's kame! Kame!"
Cell, of course, knew how to say it right. "Me..."
Though the fighters on the ship had no idea how.
"Hi..."
Cell smirked as once again Cross got it wrong, and he corrected her. "Ha..."
"Me..." they said together.
"Ma!"
"Ha!"Cell's blast shot towards Cross, strong and powerful. It would be more than enough to destroy her. She fired back her own blast, confident that such a mangled pronunciation would lead to an inferior attack. But for Cross, all she had to do was switch back to her panda form, and the attack did little to no damage to her. Cell had to move quickly to dodge her attack, only to stop behind him and start spinning a glowing orb with the power of a black hole.
Semi-Perfect Cell cursed her name. "What sort of messed-up version of the Turtle Power Wave is this?"
Cross smirked under her helmet. "Turtle Power Wave? Oh no, Cell. This is a technique I learned on my own from a teacher from beyond the stars. This is Divine Princess Void. It draws upon that awful black hole that destroyed my life and uses it to destroy my enemies with the power of divine ki. You see, Cell, the reason none of you have been able to sense my energy is because I was trained by a god who saw potential in this traveler from beyond this universe."
Semi-Perfect Cell sneered, even as his body was pulled in bit by bit, piece by piece, disintegrating at the atomic level into the glowing void. "You're bluffing."
As the void of light pulled him apart atom by atom, Cross saw her opportunity. She saw inside the mass and dashed in, pulling 17 from the chaos and canceling the attack, leaving Cell as little more than half a torso, an arm, and some legs.
17, still under Dr. Gero's programming, struggled, but Cross used the opportunity to hold him tight and teleport away. Hopefully, the sight of his sister and ally 16 would give him enough pause for her to dig into his mind and free him. Meanwhile, the corpse of Cell lay on the ground, twitching. Victory seemed hard but won.
Or so it seemed. After they were gone, the corpse of Cell lay there in a horrifying expression. With regeneration not too dissimilar to how Piccolo could instantly regrow an arm, Cell regrew all that he had lost and looked around for his prey, back in his imperfect form. He roared to the heavens.
"I will find you, and I will kill you. No matter how many decades it takes, I can wait."
18 teleported down, a look of absolute malice in her eyes. "You will die."
