Cross panted as she dropped to a knee, giving a small smile. "Your training is coming along quite impressively, Nicole."
Nicole smiled back. "Hopefully impressively enough to deal with this android threat."
Whis had an inscrutable look on his face. "Well, you have increased your power by at least ten times. That is impressive no matter the cause, but I believe we are at our three-year limit."
Cross took a deep breath, her body shifting from a bipedal to a quadrupedal form. She lumbered towards her train in the distance. "Yes, and we do need to restock our food. It looks like this is where we part ways. I will head back to Earth, but I will drop you off at a station where you can explore the culinary delights of the Multiverses I have connected."
We followed behind her at a steady pace as they entered the train. Cross straightened up, drawing some energy from the magical place where the dragons had stored her excess mass. The attendant gave a small smile.
"Your rate of recovery never ceases to amaze me, Nicole."
Nicole gave a warm smile. "I have my friends to thank. I still have so much more mass stored away in another dimension that I can tap into when needed. Moments like this allow me to take back my full dragon form." She had a wry grin. "Well, I say full, but after everything that has been done with the power of the Dragon Balls to enhance me, 250 feet is probably no longer my limit. Though I haven't really pushed myself to see how big I can get, and honestly, I don't want to. The multiverse has enough planet eaters as it is, and I do not wish to join their ranks. I think 250 feet is more than large enough."
Her expression became a bit wistful, thinking back to Namek and its dragon. While she understood those feelings were purely instincts and had been purged by another wish, she still wanted to talk to that dragon again. There were things she wanted to say, but maybe not right now. Maybe after the androids have been dealt with. Plus, she also had to consider her promises to revive their race, but again, there were more pressing engagements to deal with.
She shifted back to her bipedal form, headed to the controls, and set the course. The train took to the sky and then vanished into a rainbow portal. We stared out the windows as they crossed the divide between dimensions. He had never seen it from this perspective, and it was quite curious. The transit was relatively short as they emerged into another universe, nearby where Earth should be. Instead, there was a small white orb, familiar to visitors of the Multiverse, often referred to simply as the moon or Luna. It had settled into what used to be the orbit of an Earth that had long since been erased.
The platform on the moon seemed nondescript, average in every way you would expect a train platform to be. It announced in every language, including some that Whis was not familiar with, the arrival of the galaxy line. As they came to a stop, we could see through the window beyond the station a makeshift town. Not a true shanty town, as the buildings had clearly been set up in a more permanent way, but still clearly built relatively quickly. All of this on the desolate surface of the moon, which we were surprised to find had a breathable atmosphere. At this point, Cross shifted to a form we had not seen in our entire time together: a human one. A young, dark-haired girl who slipped into a white conductor's uniform and began her tour for the attendant of a god.
"I know that many worlds do not possess an atmosphere on the moon, but ours always did. One of the peculiarities of our universe."
"Our?" The attendant raised a brow, curiously.
Cross took a long, deep breath. "This is... my home."
The attendant looked around at the vast emptiness of space and further beyond to the sun, stars, and planets, realizing that yes, this moon was in a space where the planet Earth should be. He began to understand. This was where it all began. This is where she had lost her home, and in the absence of the Earth, the moon eventually settled into its orbit. From there, she built this station.
Several figures were wandering about, leaving Cross as she gave a tour. The first stop was a series of halls and rooms decorated with various mannequins and objects, like some sort of museum. And indeed, that's what it was. She called it the Multiverse Museum, a little trophy room of sorts where she put mementos of hers. With plaques and buttons that we touched, little holograms and voices told us all about the universe depicted in the display: its history, heroes, villains, tragedies, and victories. It segmented the narrative of a world and accepted Cross as their own, allowing her to build a station. Some worlds contained more than one planet, but as we walked about the museum, we got a feel for just how long Cross had been traveling and all the friends she had made along the way.
Heading back towards her train, she handed a small notebook to Whis. "These are some personal notes on the best food in the Multiverse. Feel free to look through it and see where you want to go, but remember my promise: no destruction."
Whis gave a smile and simply nodded. "Don't worry, Nicole. This is far outside of my jurisdiction. I wouldn't even dream of it. I wish you the best of luck on your mission back in..." He paused a moment and thought. "I suppose 'Universe Seventh' isn't the most accurate description, is it?"
Cross gave a small smile. "If we want to be accurate, it would be Universe Seven of Dimension DB-1986."
Whis gave a small smile, taking the book and waving Cross goodbye. The Multiverse traveler, headed back to the Dragon World.
