The landscape of Namek shook as Cross landed. The massive dragon mech towered over the skyscape at 250 feet tall from foot to head, not including her tail. She could be seen for miles, a glistening, gleaming metal monster that dominated the eastern horizon. The train decoupled from her grip, landing and separating into its five cabs as the Z fighters, with a couple of new additions, disembarked and began to set up camp.

One of the alien gladiators looked around the planet. "So we're really doing this? We're going to take on Frieza's empire?"

Chi-Chi took the lead. "Yes and no. Our primary goal is to acquire the Dragon Balls here and revive our lost friends. But we have trained hard, and if such a fight comes to be, we will defeat the tyrant. After all..." She looked up at Cross and then more cautiously over to her own son. "We have quite a bit of strength at hand, should we need it."

The gladiator nodded, a small smile playing across his face. The idea of a universe without Frieza was a tempting one, and while the fear of death gripped his heart, knowing what he knew of the fighters around him, there was a spark of hope.

The Z fighters then paired off and set out, following the dragon radar signal to the various villages, dispatching with relative ease the general Frieza Force soldiers stationed around the planet.

As Cross once again took flight and soared over the landscape, a group of Frieza's soldiers looked towards her with sinking pits in their stomachs. "It's Porunga, the dragon! They're going to summon the dragon!"

Of course, Cross was not the dragon. She did not have the ability to grant wishes the way Porunga did, but she could cause quite a bit of devastation with atomic fire, missiles, Gatling guns, and all manner of energy weapons. She ripped the forces apart and then landed, her docking bay opening as Bulma, with a smile on her face, emerged into the village. The Namekians stood slack-jawed as she introduced herself and said that her friends were now here to take care of these nasty invaders. They thanked her profusely, asking why she was even on their planet. What was her goal? She got a bit defensive, a little uncomfortable, eventually admitting that she was here for the Dragon Balls, but not for any vain reason. She had lost friends, and this was their last hope to bring them back. Their own Dragon Balls were just not up to the task.

The elders could feel the sincerity in her heart and in her words, and so they handed over their Dragon Ball. Bulma returned to the ship, but not alone. A young Namekian, curious to learn more about this magnificent ship, joined her. The Namekians themselves had lost all of their old technology, but some were still fascinated by it. Just like a handful still pursued the war path, most had become more peaceful, agrarian, and honestly backwards—a de-evolution at least culturally from their once noble space-faring days. But their records remained, and they knew what they had lost. So, with a new friend in tow, Bulma returned to Cross. Over the next few days, they discovered other allies. Nail was one of the few remaining warriors standing guard before the Great Elder, who, after reading their hearts, offered to unlock all of their potential and tasked Nail to join them. There was another child who was a skilled shaman and had the potential to be the next Guru or Kami. There were historians eager to know more about their past, and there were spiritualists wishing to know more about the universe beyond their own. All in all, the fighters gained a considerable troop of Namekians. While the Z fighters themselves, and in particular Goku and Cross, were able to dispatch pretty much any of the forces stationed on the planet.

Unbeknownst to the Z fighters, Vegeta was also on the planet, conducting his own blitzkrieg through the soldiers and their higher-ranked officials, mainly using Cross and the fighters as a distraction while he dismantled the Frieza Force one by one. However, their paths would cross eventually. After all, while it was not his primary goal, Vegeta did want the Dragon Balls. Immortality would mean he would never need to fear Frieza ever again.
