Atop a mountain, Cross in her giant form and Piccolo in his normal gear sat cross-legged, meditating.
"So, you meditate to increase your power?" Cross asked.
Piccolo nodded, eyes closed. "It helps me focus and control my energy. You should try it."
Cross closed her eyes, taking a deep breath. "Believe it or not, I am trained in meditation. The problem is my animal side often keeps me restless. A friend actually developed a technique to drill down control. And while it's been years, sometimes I fall back on that to get my focus back."
Her form shrank to that of an Asian girl with mismatched eyes and long, shoulder-length patchwork-colored hair, wearing a black and white maid dress with a calico cat's tail and ears.
Piccolo showed no reaction, but inside he was caught off guard.
"I could teach it to you," Cross offered.
Piccolo opened his eyes, intrigued. "I'm always looking to improve my control and focus. I'd be interested in learning this technique."
Cross smiled. "Great! It's a bit different from traditional meditation, but I think you'll find it useful."
After a few moments of silence, Piccolo spoke again, changing the subject as he pondered the offer. "Your world, what was it like?"
Cross sighed. "Peaceful, for the most part. I kept drifting through teams, so I saw a lot of conflict—demons, aliens, and other monsters—all trying to disrupt the peace. But my friends and I were always ready to stand and oppose them."

Chi-Chi handed Cross a knife, showing her how to chop vegetables. "If you're going to stay with us, you need to learn how to cook. Goku and Gohan eat a lot."
Cross laughed, taking the knife. "The Pink Energy at my core actually guides me to pursue traditional feminine tasks such as cooking, cleaning...bearing children. For income, I ran a maid café back home, staffed by cat-eared girls. Part of that was also to manage my animal side by doubling down on being civil and proper. Though personally, I've always gravitated towards desserts and junk food like handmade pizza and chocolate pies."
Chi-Chi paused. "Do you have...had children?"
Cross sighed. "None by choice. When I first mantled Soaring Eagle, I became something of a harpy and would lay up to three eggs a day like a chicken. They weren't fertile though, just like hens' eggs. Then there was the time I became a robot unicorn, and my uterus became a fighter drone assembly bay. And there's...another."
Chi-Chi didn't want to press but wanted to support Cross. "Do you want to talk about it?"
Cross shook her head, pain evident in her eyes. "Not really," she said, offering her hand, "but I can show you if you want to know."
Chi-Chi took the hand gently. "Only if you want to tell."
"I want to scream every time I think about what he did."
Chi-Chi nodded and took Cross's hand. Her skin went pale and clammy, and her face became a mask of rage as the memory played out. Cross shook as Chi-Chi pulled the young, sobbing woman into a hug.
As they worked, Chi-Chi glanced at Cross. "You've been through a lot, haven't you?"
Cross nodded. "Yeah, but I've learned to keep moving forward. It's all I can do."
Chi-Chi smiled softly. "You're strong, Cross. Stronger than you know. And you're not alone. We're here for you."
Cross felt a warmth in her chest. "Thanks, Chi-Chi. That means a lot."

Gohan watched in awe as Cross demonstrated her ability to change her size. "That's so cool! Can you teach me how to do that?"
Cross chuckled. "I'm afraid it's not something you can learn, Gohan. It's just how my body works."
Gohan looked a bit disappointed but then brightened up. "Well, maybe you can teach me some of your fighting moves instead!"
Cross smiled. "That, I can do. Let's start with some basic techniques."
As they trained, Gohan couldn't help but ask, "Do you miss your home?"
Cross paused, a sad smile on her face. "Every day. But being here, helping you all, it makes it a little easier."
Gohan nodded, determination in his eyes. "We'll make sure you feel at home here, Cross."

Krillin handed Cross a bottle of water, both of them sitting down to rest. "You know, I've been through some tough battles, but I can't imagine losing my entire planet."
Cross took a sip of water, nodding. "It was hard, but it made me stronger. I've learned to adapt and survive."
Krillin smiled. "You're definitely one of the toughest people I've met. And that's saying something, considering the company we keep."
Cross laughed. "Thanks, Krillin. That means a lot coming from you."
Krillin leaned back, looking up at the sky. "You know, we've got a pretty good team here. With you on our side, I think we've got a real shot at taking down Vegetta."
Cross nodded, feeling a sense of camaraderie. "I'll do everything I can to help. We're in this together."
