Sanemi never felt so right until this moment.

Seeing Obanai watching him in surprise made the man snort in disbelief, did Obanai actually think that he won't figure things out? He might be the type of person to not care about somebody's whereabouts, but to be honest Sanemi is one of the few who actually tries to meddle with someone's business. Just like what he did with Tanjiro's sibling before, and some other moments that others would find him genuinely scary because of it.

"The only thing I do not understand is that Oyakata-sama is aware about your hatred for [Last Name]" Sanemi said in a rough voice. His eyes watch as Obanai lean over a tree with contemplating thoughs "It could have been me, or maybe someone who isn't you."

His statement made the serpent pillar scoff but Sanemi is right at some point, the mission does involve saving you. And he doesn't even like you, not even a bit. So why was he the one to be tasked? Why not Kochou? Why not Tomioka? Or Tengen? Tokito? Shinazugawa? Why him? Himejima can also do the job. But Kagaya likes to involve Iguro with your life, which makes him even more frustrated. He loves his master of course, but the thought of having you around his life makes him sick.

He doesn't want you there, you're supposed to be out of his life.

"You can always tell Oyakata-sama to be in my stead" Iguro reply after a long pause, his eyes looking down on the cold ground as he tries to process their conversation.

Sanemi on the other hand scoff at his response and roll his eyes "I would really love that, but Oyakata-sama is the one who wanted you to be involved. So there must be a reason why, and maybe this would be your chance to get to know her better."

"So you won't ever think of her as less like you always do."

With that talk, Sanemi grabbed his wooden sword back and signalled Obanai to do the same so they can continue their sparring from earlier. Something in the wind pillar's mind is telling him to not continue the conversation further, it wasn't also because Obanai would react badly. Even if he did, Sanemi can actually handle him well.

The only thing he can't handle is Iguro's stubborn heart.

...

"You seem stiff."

Your eyes met Akaza's judging ones as he stood in front of you without any shame at all. Douma on the other hand left you with this demon, saying that it is better to know one another because you'll eventually work with them in the future. Hopefully your plan won't be long enough so you don't have to do some dirty business with them.

"Does it matter?" you shot back.

The uppermoon three didn't say anything and unsurprisingly continued to stare at you like you're some kind of prey that is needed to be watched, you understand why he's being like this to you. Since you aren't someone who he can trust at all, you're still a former pillar and that's what matters here for him. Akaza doesn't know if you'll do something to decieve him, so watching over you is the good option.

Is it though?

Your eyes stared back at Akaza as you wait for him to talk once more, but it looks like he doesn't have any plans to since he hasn't been initiating like earlier. Douma still didn't think that it was bad to leave you behind with the uppermoon three, did he really trust Akaza that much to the point that he'll leave you with this moron?

"Akaza" you called out for him to listen "You came here not because of Douma, didn't you?"

The said demon kept silent.

So this is what it is for him, keeping the reasons silent. Did Muzan send him here to investigate? Since it looks like he'd rather have the reasons with himself and not talk about it, Akaza doesn't trust you just as much so maybe it's one of the reasons.

Why would Akaza trust a former pillar like you? Even if you're a woman, you are far from being trusted. You're still part of the demon slayers, and he felt that you'll always will be.

...

"Did he open up to you?" Shinobu asked once Sanemi stepped inside her estate, she had this hopeful look towards the wind pillar only to be disappointed when he shook his head.

He sat down on the pillow across Shinobu's before talking "He'd rather let me take his place, Iguro doesn't really like her that much huh?"

"It's expected, he's been like that ever since. I don't even know why."

Why were you so less for him? Isn't this enough to shatter whatever hardness he has for you? What did you even do for him to be this heartless?

Sanemi on the other hand watch as Shinobu focuses on her thoughts, he has been thinking about the same thing. Ever since they were in the corpse, not even once did Sanemi ever saw Iguro being kind towards you. But he thought it was only because he's a bit wary of newbies, that thought died when you served long enough to be trusted and Iguro still hated you.

A hate that never wavered, and the wind pillar wondered why.

Why does Iguro hate you so much?
