"That's impossible" you muttered in confusion after hearing Tanjiro's absurd claim.

If it weren't for his great sense of smell, you would have just laughed it off and pretended that he didn't say anything at all. But the way he's genuinely confused himself made you think about it yourself since knowing Tanjiro, it's impossible for him to even think about you in a pleasant way.

A bitter laugh left your lips.

Obanai will never think of you in a positive light, he doesn't change up within some days. Nothing will change his opinion, especially towards you.

"But we weren't mistaken though [Last Name]-san, we overheard them!" Zenitsu was quick to butt in with determination. To you, it seems like they were telling the truth.

Could it be..?

It was undeniable that Tanjiro's conclusion made a small hope live in your chest, even if it was something that can simply be erased once Obanai decided to reject the boy's idea about it. But of course, the serpent pillar wouldn't know about it. Though you knew it yourself that it's impossible for him to have that type of feeling, even a friendly feeling.

Your gaze soften at this, seeing them all confused by someone's feelings was something you didn't expect. Though it can't be helped, Obanai had them all worked up. Maybe Tanjiro mistook the sweet scent that was supposed to represent the serpent pillar's admiration for Kanroji, and it just happen that the love pillar decided to bring you in the conversation when they run into them.

That's the only explanation you could think of, there's nothing else.

"It doesn't matter anyways" you immediately told them and shrug your shoulders to emphasize that you didn't care about it which made them even more confused.

Tanjiro was about to say something only to close his mouth when your crow suddenly flew towards you out of nowhere and announced that there were demons lurking around in Mount Kumotori, the trio tried to offer help but you didn't let them and went on ahead by yourself.

"This is odd" you murmured to yourself while walking carefully in case there were demons around the area waiting to pounce on you "Was I supposed to be alone in this mission?"

Your crow simply shrugged at the question which made your brow arch, "Does that mean you don't know?"

"Kaaw!"

"Well.." A soft sigh escaped your lips as you walk around the forest for quite some time already since it was already getting dark, you weren't going to let your guard down after what happened with the mission you and Obanai shared the other time.

Even when the mission happened days ago, the memory of you being taken by some demon was still fresh in your memories. As if it was going to haunt you until the day you finally breathe your last breath.

When you were deeper in the woods, an alarming sound of footsteps made you look around in a hurry. Your eyes looking at your surroundings sharply in case there were demons finally trying to attack you after hiding for so long. Only to find nothing but a familiar box, you titled your head at this discovery but decided to keep silent about it with a deadpanned expression.

Of course they're following me.

It was cute to see the trio follow you around, but you didn't know what kind of demon were you going to face so it was kind of concerning that they're on your tail. If something were to happen with them it'll make you feel horrible.

"Oi, were you following the winter pillar?"

A look of surprise splashed your face immediately when Obanai's voice greeted your hearing as your gaze landed down to his form that was scolding the trio with all of his might, you couldn't deny how cute they looked when the serpent pillar gave them an earful. But that doesn't explain why he was there.

Was he sent to the same mission as you? Now that you think of it, you can't finish it off even if it were low ranking demons. Of course you needed another pillar with you, but you didn't expected him despite how Oyakata-sama likes to pair the both of you up before.

If your past self saw this right now, she'd be happy to talk with Obanai and hog his attention in a good way. But with your present self? You just wanted nothing to do with him at the moment despite the fact that you felt a small bit of hope because of Tanjiro's words earlier.

Still, that didn't mean you'd suddenly change your stance and let him step on you again.

"But we didn't want [Last Name]-san to be in danger!" Tanjiro's voice exclaimed in panic, you couldn't help but giggle at how much he struggled at Iguro's persistence.

The serpent pillar on the other hand just glared at the poor boy and scoffed, "That's the reason why I'm here idiots. To keep that person out of death, you aren't supposed to be here. Go back to the headquarters, or I'll let you experience another hell of a training."

Oh how quick did those three changed their mind.

"WE'RE SORRY [LAST NAME]-SAN!" they screamed before running away.

You couldn't help but laugh at how silly they looked as they run away from him, though you felt bad that Iguro was being harsh. Still, the trio's reaction was amusing.

"It's okay! See you next time!" you yelled back before waving, even though they probably wouldn't see it.

Now, it was just you and Obanai standing in silence.

And of course, you could only stare at his back without saying anything. You could only stand there without trying to make any conversation with the serpent pillar, just when you were about to believe that he'll ignore you the whole mission. Obanai turns around to look at you before sighing.

"You" he started "What happened the other time doesn't affect me, but I want to clear things first before we start this mission."

"Don't make the same mistake, I don't want to deal with your meltdowns."
