(96). - Labyrinth of Secrets. [2]

       Following the dark patches, I moved deeper and
deeper into the labyrinth itself, with the black patches becoming more frequent and even taking up more space the deeper I went. I was beginning to get the feeling that whatever caused these black patches to appear around here in the first place is most definitely close by now.

There simply was no way that it wasn't close to me at this point, considering the abundance of the black patches that covered the lush green walls of the maze and the dirt path.

'Ancient One, is Global Sense still being blocked?'

Damnit... Well, I guess I shouldn't have really expected it to be any different. After all, the skill got blocked as soon as I got separated from everyone else. Plus, I've been moving deeper into the maze this whole time — so I would expect it to remain blocked since I wasn't moving towards its exit.

The black patches were covering more and more space as I continued to follow them, eventually even sprouting what looked like withered flowers and other vegetation that gave the maze a lot more of a... Eerie and even creepy vibe if I had to admit it myself. It definitely wasn't a very welcoming atmosphere.

Combine that with the fact that sunset was already reaching its final stages, with the sky gushing with a slight purple tint and turning darker and darker with every second that passed and you've got a scenario that was akin to a horror movie setting.

Never been fan of those.

Then, I heard something rustle further down the path, causing me to stop dead in my tracks and immediately pull my guard up to the max. After the slight rustle, everything went quiet, with absolutely nothing making noise.

However, I was not buying the fact that it could have been the wind or just my imagination - Oh no, this was not just something easily explainable.

There was 100% something further down the path infront of me. With this in mind, I shed a slight sweat before beginning to move cautiously towards the area I heard the rustle at. It was further down the path, like I said, however it also was somewhat around a corner of the mazes wall that was to my left. Which meant that there was possibly someone or something hiding just around the corner.

Approaching carefully, I quickly used my 'Venom Mastery' skill to manifest the Venomous Halberd, before infusing it with a bit of White Flames, creating the Flaming Halberd of Venomous Purity. A pretty long name I know, however that was apparently its name when you looked at the status screen of it.

As I moved closer to the corner, I gripped the halberd in my hands a bit tighter before exhaling lightly and leaping around the corner, immediately swinging the halberd around it and successfully catching off guard a figure dressed in rags.

The halberd swung straight into its chest, slashing it into two pieces and even through the corner at which I had swung it at. At first I got a bit scared that I had just killed someone with my caution, however then the figure fell to the ground, with the rags falling off of its chest a bit — revealing what looked like black ribs.

Shedding a sweat again, I spun the halberd around before walking up to it and kneeling down. Afterwards, I reached out my right hand to it, before pulling the rags on its head off a bit, revealing a black skull with sharp teeth underneath.
