MONDAY evening, upon being dropped off home by the bus, Haewon wore an unknowing smile on her lips.

Although saddened that the weekend trip has officially gone to an end now that she's home, she couldn't help but be filled with excitement and wonder for what was to come, her mind clouded with none other than Lee Heeseung.

Pushing the door to her house open, she stepped into the dimly lit entryway — the light coming from the living room and kitchen seeping into the doorway.

She shrugged off her backpack, settling it onto the floor next to the front door for now, leaving it to carry up to her bedroom later on. She let out a small sigh of relief, a lingering scent of food trailing through the house — a home cooked meal.

“I'm home!” Haewon called out hesitantly, footsteps light as she carried herself to the kitchen, where she caught sight of her mother, standing alone.

The middle-aged woman smiled at the sight of her daughter, setting the wooden spoon she was holding down on the counter as she approached the teen girl with open arms, welcoming her into her embrace.

“Oh, dear, how was the trip? Did you have fun?” Mrs. Seong questioned, as Haewon scrunched her nose up slightly, hugging her mother back before pulling away after a brief moment, leaning back against the counter.

“It was great, I had a lot of fun. I just wish it wasn't over so soon.” Haewon replied, propping herself up against the countertop as she let out a small hum.

“How.. how have things been at home?” The girl asked, tilting her head slightly as her mother breathed out a small laugh, eyes fixed on the pot of food she had burning over the stovetop.

“Oh, you know, same old, same old.” Mrs. Seong smiled lightly, shrugging her shoulders as she shook her head softly. “I do have to talk to you, though.”

Haewon hummed in return, a brow raised as she pushed herself to stand upright — folding her arms over her chest. “Mhm? What is it?”

“Well,” Mrs. Seong began, dusting her shirt off as she placed her hand on her hip, staring over at her daughter with a guilty smile. “There's a spring formal on Friday night.” The woman paused.
