"if you go, i'll stay. you come back, i'll be right here."_________________________
HOURS passed, as the sun was soon replaced by the bright moon — stars much more visible than they were back at home as they highlighted the moon and all of its glory.
It was their final night left on the short-lived camping trip before going back to their hometown in the morning, returning to daily school life.
The few teachers that had tagged along had left to a different part of the camping grounds, a mere five minute walk away as they had their own discussions — mostly regarding work and whatnot.
Whereas, the group of students were all settled around the site, lingering outside of their tents as they all conversed freely with each other, being left to do whatever they pleased, given it was the final night.
Seong Haewon was settled onto the end of a log. To her left sat Lee Heeseung, with Jay and Jake on the other side of him. Whilst Sunghoon, Miyeon and Minjun were on the log beside them.
Holding small, wooden sticks provided by staff, the girl held the marshmallow she was roasting over the fire.
She almost zoned out as she stared at the open flame beneath it, rolling the stick between her fingers as she rotated the marshmallow endlessly as she waited for it to turn into a golden hue.
Heeseung's shoulder brushed unintentionally against hers, as his head turned towards her at the contact. He raised a brow, letting out a soft laugh as the reflection of the fire danced in her softened brown eyes, lost in a whirlwind of her own thoughts.
His hand gently tapped her knee, bringing her back to reality as their friends engaged in their own conversations, too immersed with whatever they were discussing to notice the small interaction between the pair.
“You alright?” He muttered, just for her to hear as she turned her head slightly, just enough to meet his curious, doe-eyed gaze.
Haewon hummed in response, nodding loosely as she gave him a smile. Though it was vague, it was genuine — in her sparkling eyes he could see.
He found himself subconsciously returning the smile, head lolling to the side ever so slightly as he skimmed over her features, admiring them so dearly with the soft orange glow from the campfire, or the bright light the moon provided, shining down on them.
