STARING at her own reflection within the glass pane of the double doors, the entryway to the dance itself, Haewon's hands worked nervously to flatten out her hair before she entered.

Adjusting her bangs as best as she could, before repositioning the hair that fell over her shoulders, let loose in a simple half up half down hairstyle.

She didn't know why she cared so much about her appearance. She guessed it mostly stemmed from insecurity, and nerves.

The idea of being alone in essentially a party with nothing but unknown people was startling, especially when everyone else most likely had at least one person they were familiar with.

Courtesy of Jang Miyeon who had helped her pick it out amongst a few other options at a boutique only the day before, Seong Haewon was fitted into a sage green dress, to closely match the spring color theme over all.

The material was satin, with lace detailing in pretty floral patterns and small little gems planted within the middle of each flower detail.

The neckline cut was low, and the back was open ever so slightly with a small oval shape exposing bits of her upper back, clamped shut.

She paired it all with white ankle strapped heels that she at first struggled to walk in but eventually got the hang of after taking multiple laps around her bedroom to practice so as to not embarrass herself.

Finally gaining what little confidence she had at the moment, she pushed the door open, immediately met with the sound of an older, more calming song playing through speakers — along with the faint sound of chattering and laughter.

Her eyes wandered around curiously, her heart skipping a beat as her cheeks heated up in subtle embarrassment upon realizing it really was only kids around her age, making her feel even more awkward than she initially was already.

Her hands were curled into small fists as her sides, taking a deep breath as she cautiously made her way over to the drink stand, in which a staff member — an older woman, helped her to make a small cup of fruit punch.

To Seong Haewon, this felt like a nightmare come to life. She was no social butterfly, that's for sure. Falling into the more introverted category.
