Havyns pov

I woke up with shining lights blinding my eyes, I looked around the room I was in. The window, chairs and walls reminded me of something familiar. The hospital. I started to panic until I realised someone was holding my hand. It was Taylor."Mhm." I managed to say. I wanted to say 'Taylor' but there was a tube in my throat. I started to choke.
"Hey I've got you." Taylor stood up and got a nurse.
"Thanks." I whispered once the tube was out.
She smiled and squeezed my hand, "you're okay."
"Where's Theo and Maisie?" I panicked.
"They're just in the cafeteria with my security guard. Theo called me to save you." Taylor spoke gently.
"You showed him you cared." I smiled, trying to calm the oncoming headache.
"You okay?" Taylor looked worried.
I nodded, "my head hurts."
The nurse overheard me and provided some more pain killers. I heard my favourite little voices getting closer. They reached the door.
"Havie!" Maisie came running over, climbing onto the bed beside me. I hugged her close, Theo looked traumatised.
"Hey buddy, come here." I smiled at him as he got closer.
"I'm okay, I'm sorry." I whispered into his ear as he sat on my other side, "thank you for saving me, T."
He smiled sadly at me and whispered, "do we have to go back?"
I looked at Taylor, resting my chin on his head, "I'm sorry that we do."
Taylor looked concerned, she pulled her phone out and started texting someone. I just held my siblings close, happy I survived for them. But honestly I don't know how much more of this I can take.

A little while later, Taylor stepped out to take a phone call and both, Maisie and Theo had fallen asleep. I just lay with Maisie in my hospital bed, unknowing of what will come next. If we go home now, they'll hurt us more. If we don't, we'll be split up in the system. Taylor's security guard, Greg, was outside my door at all times, reminding me that we're safe for the time being.
The doctor came into my room, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Havyn Grey?" He looked up from his clipboard to me.
I nodded, not wanting to wake a sleeping Maisie beside me.
"Right, you had a concussion and split your head open," He stared at me, "You'll be okay if you take it easy for another few days. Another knock on your head can be fatal."
I was terrified, I knew what would happen if I went home. I knew there definitely would be another knock on the head.
"Are your parents here?"
I didn't want to answer. I paused, thinking of what I should say. Before I could answer, Taylor walked in.
"They're not here, but I am." She gave me a reassuring smile.
"Okay, who are you to Havyn?"
"She's my friend." I managed to finally speak.
"We need parental consent to let you leave."
I tried not to laugh at that, he was never getting that.
"My parents aren't coming." I replied.
He looked confused like he didn't know where to go from here, shortly after he left my room.
"What's going to happen to us?" I asked Taylor, who was standing beside me. She looked down at me with a soft smile.
"I'm not sure, but I'm not letting you go back to that house." She stroked my hair. I wondered how anyone could be so kind.
"I can't lose them."
"You're not going to, I've been talking to my lawyer." She sat in the chair beside me. I nodded, hoping whatever she's planning works.

"I'm hungry." Theo whispered into my ear, loud enough that Taylor heard.
"I'll see if Greg can get us some food." She smiled at Theo. He tried to hide behind me, embarrassed.
"Thank you." He replied.
Maisie was engrossed in whatever was on the tv, which she's never really watched due to the lack of time spent downstairs near our parents. Taylor and Theo started discussing food for dinner as I curled up on my bed. Taylor started to rub my back as she spoke to Theo. I didn't understand why she was being so kind. We were just three kids, whose own family couldn't love them. So why does she?
"Havyn?"
I rolled over to face Taylor, her two electric blue eyes staring at me.
"Are you hungry? Pick something." She handed me her phone to choose something.
"I'm okay thanks." I just couldn't accept her kindness.
"Honey, you have to eat something soon." She whispered gently so the younger two couldn't hear. I just nodded before closing my eyes.
I was woken to the smell of fast food surrounding my room, Taylor had obviously set a meal beside my bed as she pointed to it once she realised I was awake. I smiled and mouthed 'thank you' at her as she was in a deep discussion with Maisie about Bluey. Her new favourite show.
The doctor reappeared, "Havyn, you're allowed to go home. We managed to contact your parents." He smiled and left again. I gripped the bed sheets in pure fear. He called them?
"I don't want to go home." Maisie protested.
"Can we stay with Taylor?" Theo added.
Taylor laughed, "I'm not against that idea."
"You can't just take us. They'll phone the police." I mumbled. Maisie and Theo had both properly bonded with Taylor, unlike me. I don't think I could trust her, even though I wanted to with everything I had in me.
"I know, I'll talk to my lawyer. You guys get ready to go." Taylor smiled and walked out.
"Havie, we have to go with Taylor!!" Theo argued.
I sighed, knowing he wouldn't understand why we couldn't.
"Havyn Grey?" I turned my head towards the door.
A woman stood with files under her arm. She had severe curly hair and thick rimmed glasses, "Havyn, right?"
I nodded, wondering who the hell she was.
"I'm your social worker, can we talk about how you got injured?"
"No it's fine." I replied.
"No! No! You'll split us up!" Maisie started shouting, I knew we were now screwed.
"Mais, it's okay." I gave her a look to tell her to shut up.
"Right, we've things to discuss then."
I gave a sheepish smile to her, shrugging. I felt myself wanting Taylor. I wanted her to come back and stroke my hair, hug me and tell me everything's going to be alright. I've never relied on anyone and I wasn't about to start now.
