My heart dropped when I heard Theo was injured. I'd spent years protecting him and I was away for a few days and he was hurt? I would never forgive myself and I didn't think Taylor would forgive herself either.

I was waiting in Taylor's living room with Maisie and Travis as Taylor went to pick Theo up. We decided only one of us should go so we didn't overwhelm him. I picked at my nails, patiently waiting for my little brother to return home. Maisie was sitting drawing in her colouring book that Taylor had got her. Travis was watching Maisie, trying to keep his mind off Theo.

Theo's concussion was really serious, he couldn't fully remember much. We were lucky that he knew who we were.

"Do you think Theo will like my drawing?" Maisie climbed up onto the couch beside Travis.

"I think he'll love it, you're a little artist." He smiled, scooping her onto his lap and hugging her close. I loved how much he adored Theo and Maisie, he was definitely dad material.

I looked out the window, the rain was racing down it. It brought me peace in a strange way as it soothed me watching the rain make its way to the ground.

I noticed the gates were opening, meaning someone was driving in. I recognised the car immediately, I glanced at Travis who gave me the same worried expression back.

Travis left Maisie and I at the front door as he helped Taylor and Theo out of the car. He carried Theo inside, allowing Taylor to come in first. She didn't look at either of us, her head was hung in shame like this was all her fault. No one blame her, we're all kids and accidents happen. Travis laid Theo on the couch as we said hello quietly. I noticed Taylor didn't move from the door of the living room, she looked frozen with fear and sadness just staring at Theo.

Travis and Maisie provided Theo with all of the care and attention he needed by showing him their drawings and keeping him happy. Travis still had Theo in his arms on the couch as Maisie sat on the other side, chatting away about her favourite football team, the chiefs.

I looked back at Taylor, she was gone. I wandered upstairs to see if I could find her. I knew she was struggling with this, she had two kids in the hospital at the same time. She was blaming herself for things she can't change.

I heard her sniffling and crying in her bedroom, poking my head around the door.

"Tay?" I whispered.

"Yes?" She wiped her tears away. I just tilted my head in sympathy, knowing I'd caught her crying.

She broke down again, "sorry."

I shook my head, climbing into the bed beside her.

"Don't be silly, Tay, this isn't your fault." I wrapped my arms around her, allowing her to fall against my embrace.

"This wouldn't have happened, it's me, if I wasn't me." She stumbled over her words.

"If you hadn't saved us, we all would've either been dead or split up into the system. Taylor, you've provided us with so much more. Accidents happen, he's a kid. It's okay." I smiled, looking into her electric blue eyes. Her tears make them even brighter in this light.

She nodded slowly, looking at the bigger picture with me. She has done so much more for us than anyone before, one little concussion isn't going to change that for Theo.

"Theo loves you, that'll never change." I twirl a strand of her hair with my fingers.

She kissed my cheek pulling me closer for a hug, "he's so lucky to have you as his sister."

"And you as his mom." I whispered back, laying my head on her chest. I felt her rest her cheek on my forehead gently, appreciating my presence with her.

After some silence, Taylor spoke up again, "how are you feeling? I don't want you to feel lost with all this going on."

"I'm okay," I smiled at her, "the darkness scares me sometimes."

She nodded, "that's normal, babe, we'll keep working through it together. Alright?"

I nodded against her, happy everything was okay for the moment.

A few hours later, we had dinner together. I was still picking at my food. On days where we had big worrying issues, my struggles came straight back, disallowing me to eat. Travis noticed and rubbed my back as Taylor was watching Theo eat his, making sure he didn't fall off his chair and whack his head again.

"Do you think I'll remember things soon?" He looked up at Taylor.

"I hope so, bud. But it could take some time, there's no rush." She ruffled his hair ever so gently.

He nodded, taking another bite.

"It's almost bath time for you two." She pointed to Maisie and Theo, making them giggle.

Maisie got up and wandered round to Taylor, making grabby hands at her. Taylor picked her up and set her on her knee, facing her.

"What's up, Maisie Moo?" She smiled kissing the brunettes nose.

"Sleepy." Maisie mumbled putting her head on Taylors chest. She rested her chin onto of Maisie's head, allowing her to snuggle in more

"Okay let's get you bathed and ready for bed then, yeah?" Taylor smiled, kissing Maisie's head. You could just tell how much she loved all of us so much.

I helped Taylor put them to bed, singing the bedtime song once again. Maisie was sound asleep well before we even started to sing, but for our nightly tradition we felt like we had to sing it. I sat by Theo, making sure he felt okay since he hadn't really said much about his head.

Taylor and I got up to go, she was first to the door as I was behind her.

"Taylor?" Theo sat up slowly as we stopped in our tracks.

"Yes T?" She smiled at him.

"Are you our mommy now?"

Taylor and I exchanged a look before she managed to find an answer.

"Well, I can be. Do you want me to?" She asked softly.

He nodded, "you take care of us."

"I do." She smiled at him. I could tell her heart was exploding with joy and love.

"Can we call you mommy?"

"That's completely up to you, Theo. Whatever you want to call me, I'm right here."

I didn't think I could love this family anymore, taylor proves daily that she's meant to be the mom for us. The pure love and passion she puts into this family is shaping my siblings and me into better people than we use to be with our family before.
