Rage

When I heard what Sasha had to say, my blood boiled with rage. Taylor looked just as angry as I did.

"So why did you lock yourself in the basement? Martha said she tried to get you out but you refused." Sasha spoke like this made sense to her.

"Martha locked me in. How could I even lock it without the key?" My voice was low and annoyed.

"Havyn. You have to stop lying or martha won't take you back."

"She's not going back there." Taylor interrupted.

"I'm not lying." I raised my voice.

Sasha rolled her eyes, "you're taking a thirteen year olds word against an adult?"

"You're not listening to a child's concerns about her wellbeing, which is your job to do so." Taylor wasn't happy at all.

"Martha wouldn't hurt kids like that." Sasha spoke again.

"How do you know that? Were you there? Why am I in the hospital then?" I started to shout.

"Just calm down, Havyn. There's no need for that."

I went to launch at her, so many things I could say. Taylor put her hand on my shoulder, "Get the fuck out now."

After Sasha made a quick getaway from Taylor, we sat in silence once again. I was unsure of what would happen to me now, I refused to go back to Martha's. Although all I could think about was little Poppy and the other 7 kids, who didn't deserve to go through it. Why was I the one who got away ? I hated the system. It was so unfair.

Taylor was pacing the room in a panic about what our plan was, I was just watching her. I knew no matter what I did, they wouldn't listen to me. Sasha proved that earlier, I was only thirteen.

"Right, I'm going to check with the doctor about the dna test and then phone my lawyer." Taylor spoke, I wasn't sure if she was actually speaking to me or just trying to process something that would make sense.

"How are you so calm about this?" She turned to me.

I shrugged, "at the end of the day, Theo and Maisie are happy, and no one's going to listen to me."

Taylor sighed, "don't give up, Havie."

She was starting to annoy me, I've been through all of this before. I knew what happens, you can't change anything. I just rolled my eyes and lay back down, "it's the truth."

Taylor checked the time, probably thinking about the younger two. Knowing they actually wanted her company, well they showed that they did. Of course I wanted Taylor here, but I knew I'd be sent away again. What's the point getting attached?

"Go home, Taylor." I mumbled into my pillow.

"I'm not leaving you here."

"Taylor, go home!" I raised my voice louder, I wanted to be alone. I wanted to scream and cry.

Taylor looked at me with defeat in her eyes, "Havie."

"Just go, please." I looked away from her.

I heard her sigh, debating on what to do.

"I'll be up here first thing tomorrow, alright?"

I didn't reply, I just needed her gone. I heard the door close, after a while I shifted my head so I could see. She really did leave. My heart sank a little.

I hated myself. Why couldn't I just be normal ? Why couldn't I just accept what Taylor's giving me?

Taylor's pov

I drove home from the hospital, I was planning on staying but Havyn was adamant that I should leave. It hurt to see her so upset but I knew she was dealing with a lot.

I walked into the house to find Theo and Maisie fast asleep on the couch with my mom beside them.

"Hey hun! I didn't expect you to be home tonight." My mom smiled, coming over to greet me.

I just hugged her, "how were they for you?"

"They were wee cuties, absolutely great." My mom looked over at them curled up together. It was only 7.27pm.

"Thanks mom."

"I'll be over tomorrow so you can head up again, Havyn shouldn't be alone too long in the hospital." My mom was talking from experience with her cancer treatments; it was long and boring by yourself according to her, which I don't doubt for a second.

I nodded, squeezing her tightly. She left as I went over to the little ones, slowly picking up Maisie. I took her upstairs and placed her into the double bed they've been sharing. Before heading back for Theo, he was sitting up looking confused.

"Hey bub. You okay?" I smiled, sitting beside him. He just nodded, yawning.

"I miss Havie." He mumbled quietly.

"I know, she's okay and she'll be back here soon." I soothed him, rubbing his back as he cuddled into my side.

"Did you see her?" His brown eyes stared into mine.

"I did, she's looking forward to seeing you two again." I smiled at him.

He just nodded, putting his head on my chest. We just sat there for a while, until he fell back asleep and I could carry him upstairs. I slipped into my own bed, wondering how Havyn was doing by herself. I had a feeling deep down that she didn't actually want to be alone. I should've stayed.
