Chapter 28

Clementine's POV:

"Hellooooooo."

My head swiveled to the gate instantly.

"Who the fuck is that."

"I don't know."

I didn't have the time to think before someone jumped over the wall that was destroyed that we haven't fully fixed yet. He had a gun and a big one, which he aimed at all of us.

"No one moves."

Another man hopped over the wall and opened the gate for the other four men. The last one to enter was obviously the leader of the group. A tall man who looked like the strongest person I've ever seen. His voice boomed when he spoke.

"Listen up. One of my men was killed in these woods earlier today. I want to know who was involved. Who killed him?"

None of us spoke up waiting to see what he'd do.

"No one wants to admit it? Okay fine. Grab the blonde one."

One of the men came over and yanked Violet from her seat. When she tried to fight back she got the back of the gun to her forehead.

"Don't hurt her!"

"We don't want to, but you guys wouldn't fess up. Here's the deal."

As he was speaking the man was dragging Violet who was grabbing her head.

"We want to know who killed our man. Fess up and no one will die. Stay silent and I shoot this one immediately."

He pulled out a pistol and aimed it at Violet's head.

"3...2..."

I stood up.

"It was me!"

Violet looked at me scared.

"Clementine."

"Stop Vi. It was me. I killed him. He attacked my people first when we were hunting. I did what I had too."

"Did he now? Unprovoked?"

"Yeah fucking unprovoked. I just fought for my life. To be attacked by that asshole right after."

"Yeah. He wasn't always the sharpest tool in the shed."

"Well. I fessed up. Let her go."

He nodded at his man and he threw Violet back to the side where everyone else was being held at gunpoint.

"Well, I did say no one will die didn't I? But you still did kill one of my own. I'm going to need something. An eye for an eye they say."

"What do you want? Food? A place to stay?"

"Well now that'd be too little. You took a life, little lady. I say we take something of yours."

"What?"

"Grab her, and if any of her goons move, kill them."

Before I could turn to fight back I felt someone wrap their arms around me.

"LET HER GO!"

I heard Louis yell. Violet yelled right after.

"HURT HER AND I'LL KILL YOU!"

I heard the big man laugh.

"What should I take?"

He got closer to me and pulled out a clever.

"Oh. I know just the thing. Bring her to the table."

I felt myself getting dragged to the table I was just eating at and I couldn't do anything to save myself.
