Eustace's POV

Life has been utterly miserable ever since my annoying cousins came to stay with us while their parents were overseas. I don't understand why that makes it our problem.

All my cousin Edmund ever does is complain about missing some made up girlfriend of his. Sometimes he mentions what must be her siblings, apparently they're quite young.

He refuses to show any photographs of this girl. Obviously he can't since he's making her up. I mean, what girl in their right mind would ever want to even be associated with someone like my cousin. He's always off in his own little nonsense world with mermaids and witches. It's ridiculous really.

I can't believe he's actually older than me with the way he's so stuck in that fantasy world. He's obsessed with that girl. Poor fool.

Unfortunately, mother seems to believe she's real. Apparently she's invited the girl over for dinner. All the way from Edinburgh. It seems too long of a trip for me.

I don't know why she's playing into his ridiculous fantasies. Perhaps she is actually just trying to get him to shut up about the girl by giving him a real person to talk to.

Mum sent my cousins out to buy groceries for dinner tonight with the girl. I honestly can't wait to see the look on my cousin's face when he realizes he made her up. At this point I think he genuinely believes she's real, not just a figment of his imagination. Why else would he be so obsessed with proving to us that she's real?

My cousins have been gone for a couple hours now, not that I really care

My cousins have been gone for a couple hours now, not that I really care. I've been enjoying the peace and quiet their absence brings. It gives me time to write in my diary.

Dear diary,

It is now day 253 since my wretched cousins Edmund and Lucy invaded our house. I don't know how much longer I can cope living with them, having to share my things. I have to deal with Edmund complaining about missing his so called girlfriend or whoever she is.

Mum decided to surprise him by inviting her. I'm not even convinced she's real. Very convenient that she moved to Scotland before any of us could meet her.
