"and i will try to fix you"

⎯⎯⎯
The bass thumps through the walls, a steady heartbeat that draws us closer to the epicenter of tonight's chaos.
I'm both anxious and excited, a spiral of nerves and anticipation swirling in my chest.
Kai walks beside me, frowning. But I catch the occasional flash of curiosity in his eyes.
Hehe.
"This better be worth it," he grumbles, shoving his hands into his pockets.
This is my first time at a party and I have no idea what I'm doing.
We step through the door and are immediately swallowed by the crowd.
The air is thick with the scent of sweat, alcohol, and a hint of something sweet—maybe someone's overzealous perfume.
Bailey waves us over from a corner, a red solo cup already in hand.
God.
"Leighton! Kai! Over here!" she shouts above the music.
I grab Kai's hand without thinking, pulling him through the throng of dancing bodies.
His hand is warm and solid, and he squeezes it tired.
Awwww.
"Drink up! Tonight, we get drunk as fuck!!" Bailey cheers, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
Kai raises an eyebrow at the cup but takes it anyway.
I don't drink. Never will.
"You okay, Lei?" Bailey asks.
"Mhm," I say but its a lie.
I'm feeing overstimulated.
The music pulses through me and my ears ring.
"I need a break," I shout to Bailey, who nods and keeps dancing.
I push my way through the crowd, heading for a quieter corner, but it's like the walls are closing in.
My head spins, and the noise is too much.
I close my eyes, trying to calm myself, but it's not working.
Suddenly, a hand grabs my arm. I open my eyes to see a guy I don't recognize.
He smiles, but there's something off about it. "Hey, you look like you could use a break. Come with me?"
I hesitate, but before I can protest, he pulls me away from the crowd and down a hallway. My heart races, a mix of fear and confusion. "Wait, I—"
"Just relax," he says, his grip tightening as he leads me into a bedroom. He closes the door behind us, and the noise from the party is muffled but not gone.
"Please, I just needed some air," I say, trying to keep my voice steady.
Please no.
He steps closer, his smile turning into a smirk. "You'll feel better in here. Trust me."
Panic bubbles up in my chest. I take a step back, but there's nowhere to go. "I need to get back to my friends."
He reaches out, brushing a strand of hair from my face. "They won't miss you for a while. Trust me."
My mind races, and I glance around the room, looking for an escape.
Nothing.
"It's okay," The guy whispers. "I promise."
He guides us to the bed and pins me against the mattress.
He takes off his shirt and starts kissing my neck.
"Get off," I yell but nothing comes out.
"Please stop." I try again but nothing comes out.
Someone help me.
