Disney World is packed today.
I'm wedged between Kai and Bailey as we inch closer to the security checkpoint, the guys from the hockey team forming a loud, excited group around us.
It's a miracle we all managed to stick together in this crowd.
I glance up at Kai, who's busy scanning the sea of people, probably trying to plot the quickest route through the park.
He's got that furrowed brow look, like he's already annoyed and we haven't even made it past the gates.
I nudge his arm with mine, offering him a small smile, but he's lost in thought.
Bailey, on the other hand, is practically vibrating with excitement.
Her eyes sparkle as she talks a mile a minute about all the rides we need to hit first, her enthusiasm contagious.
Even the hockey guys seem to be in high spirits, though they're more focused on figuring out where they can grab a beer once we're inside.
They're underaged as crap.
The line moves again, and we're next up for the security check.
I watch as each of us steps forward, bags open, handing over whatever we've got in our pockets. It's all routine—until Eli.
"Sir, could you step over here for a moment?" one of the security guards says, and Eli freezes, a guilty look spreading across his face.
"What's going on?" Bailey asks, her eyes wide with concern as we all turn to look.
Oh no.
Eli hesitates, then sheepishly reaches into his bag, pulling out a small plastic baggie filled with mini bottles of alcohol—shots.
My eyes widen as I realize what's happening. He was trying to smuggle them in.
"Oh my God, Eli," I mutter, feeling a mix of disbelief and amusement.
The security guard doesn't look amused, though.
He calmly explains the park's rules while Eli tries to laugh it off, but I can tell he's embarrassed. The rest of the guys are either snickering or trying to act like they don't know him. Kai, of course, looks like he's ready to kill him.
"Dude, what were you thinking?" one of the guys asks, shaking his head.
"I thought it'd be fun," Eli says, shrugging, but his smile is a little forced.
The guard takes the bag from him and motions for Eli to move on, but not before issuing a stern warning.
Bailey's trying to hold back laughter now, and I can't help but join her. "Only you, Eli," she says, rolling her eyes.
Kai mutters something under his breath that I can't quite catch, but it's probably not friendly.
He looks at me, his eyes softening for a moment. "You okay?"
