⎯⎯⎯

The salty breeze dances through the open windows of our beach house, carrying the soft sounds of waves lapping at the shore. I sit on the back porch, feet propped on the railing, watching as the sun sinks low over the ocean, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink. Pebbles chases after a seagull, her playful meows breaking the serene ambiance.

Four years ago, if you'd told me I'd be here—living in a house with Kai, both of us chasing our dreams—I would've doubled over laughing.

But we made it.

Together.

The sound of the front door opening catches my attention, and I glance over my shoulder as Kai steps out, his familiar smile greeting me.

He's still in his training clothes, hair damp from his post-practice shower. His eyes, though tired, hold that determined spark they've always had.

"Hello," he says, walking over to me. "You okay out here?"

I smile and nod. "Yeah. Just enjoying the view."

He glances out at the sunset, then back at me, a soft grin pulling at his lips. "It's a good view."

It's hard to believe that this is our life now—living in a house that feels like it was built just for us. Kai's training for the NHL has been grueling, but he's thriving.

And the house? It's our little piece of peace in a world that can feel overwhelming.

He sits beside me, wrapping an arm around my shoulders. "Practice was rough today. Coach is pushing us hard."
