Chapter SOME HOPE LINGERS

"Wolf where were you last night?"

AK asked him worryingly but he just shrugged with a small smile on his face. With a calm demeanour he smiled softly at her "I was just having a bit of a night walk, haven't had one for a while so I decided that it was a good time to have one". He said calmly taking a sip of the coffee that he had in his hands but AK wasn't convinced. She knew Wolf for years and knew that he lied a lot when it came to being about him.

That and he had redacted written on everything about him, but after being with him as a teammate over the years and recently had made AK realise why Wolf had so much hidden away from others, those tears of sadness when Evelyn had to be killed to free her from the horrible Siren transformation that turned her into a monster. She must of been a good friend to Wolf just like the many others after her in the army who didn't get to come home after the fights that Wolf endured.

She wished that he would just open up fully and share his mind with her cause it was worrying her sick that he was doing this to himself but she couldn't blame him for why he was doing it. For Abigail she could see the worry on AK's face but she knew that Wolf was not going to tell her, he didn't really tell them to the point that they had to pry through Wolfs details just like AK did to find out some more things about the captain.

She couldn't say that his life was shrouded in mystery, it's just that like the others thought he had redacted written all over his details about where he came from, what he participated in and the consequences of the casualties of those conflicts. For Abigail she wasn't sure what to say to AK or to Wolf but the feeling of a hand going through the back of her hair made her feel better with Evans smiling at her.

His smile was a ray of sunshine in the darkness that surrounded this whole conflict that they were in. She was glad that he was with her as someone to confide in and share a bond that she had held back for so long. "He needs time....but it's time we don't have Abi and you know that" Evans said with a frown on his face. "I know... he is our friend after all and all the years that we had basically abandoned him he suffered alone".

"Hey...Abi your not thinking on a logical level this time aren't you?" The sudden mentioning of it made her turn red as she looked away denying Evans response. "I am clearly making a hypothesis on the wellbeing of our friend Evans I am doing this out of concern for-" He gave her a soft kiss on the cheek that made her turn bright red again followed by a sigh. "No fine... your right I am speaking on an emotional level I'm not that cold Evans...am I?".

She said with an inflection at the end, she was looking at him while he begins to postulate what to say, knowing that if he says what came first to mind would probably make her pull his ear or she might get grumpy with him but it was his flow so he goes with it. 

"I mean well sometimes you can -ow ow!"

Abigail tugs at the ear of Evans to which she smirks a bit watching him take it back but he was right after all, she does act coldly basing everything sorely on logic...it made her so detached from an emotional stand point in a situation. She releases Evans ear followed by a soft kiss on the lips before he had a chance to complain as the sound of a cough catches both of the love birds attentions. 

It was Wolf who looked at them with a nod, "Good your finally listening you two love birds". He walks towards the front of the team who was waiting for him to do the debriefing however one person was absent in the team to which Helena could only look with worry. "Cleveland is with her sisters I guess" Helena says with a frown, her hands move around to comfort the empty feeling she was having.
