Sector V Under No Flag

Chapter NOT FAR FROM THE CHAIN

START RECORDING: TALON

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Wolf do you know why Jax had smeared your name back then?"

The sound of panting and running as their boots tread the same destroyed roads they had travelled once before, filled with artillery craters, burnt out cars and the smell of smoke and petrol. They were moving at a face pace towards the last known location of Abigail and Dakota near Fort Galecrest, one of the old Sector V forts that held off a Siren bombardment, Ferri entrenchment for 6 months before they were eventually overrun and killed, it was a strong fort littered with every gun a soldier could want to get their dirty gloves on.

It was said that Captain Knox died standing while fighting off Executioner and another Ringleader albeit taking many of the Ferri dolls with him. Now it was nothing but a hollow place with skeletons that litter it's halls, the smell of machine grease from the leaking Ferri dolls that went into the meat grinder. They didn't have the man power right now to get their hands on a base of that magnitude and if they did it would be a target for sure.

It feels Wolf of memories of it's grandeur standing mighty and tall in the midst of evil but it waved away replaced by a hollow memory and reminder of how far they have fallen. "Wolf are you listening?" The voice calls out to him from his left being none other than Kellan in his SOLAR gear with the ripped off badges of SOLAR. He uttered the words through the hastened breaths of theirs.

"You, Burke and Jax were considered the best when you were acknowledged but after the Western Plains none of you were the same. I was lucky that I was assigned to a different post but I will never forget the amount of bodies that came out of those helicopters to the point that soldiers called them death carri-". "Kellan! You're being inconsiderate of the Captain, don't stir up memories like tha-", Lyra said with a concerned voice, she knew all the tales of the Western Plains.

A bitter victory so bitter that one couldn't swallow the numbers and could only stare in silence at them. Even though they had won that fight to stop the Ferri from conquering past the Western plain line the amount of towns destroyed, the amount of soldiers slaughtered and fought tooth and nail that out of the millions that went in only around 100k came back. Sure they dealt a massive blow to the Ferri but they could rebuild that loss and didn't need to be covered in love and care by others.

Only by machine oil and cold rolled metal in a dark damp factory.

"It doesn't matter what happened that day Kellan, I have no doubt it started from there but it doesn't change the fact that Jax is a threat to the others and has other plans that the others have not heard or seen.", "I overstepped...your right Wolf whatever our old friend has become is not the person we used to know back then". Kellan's eyes narrow and harden as he mutters "He has become nothing but a snake that envies the reality he is in... I can see that now and you do to Lyra, don't you?".

She nods in agreement, she knew how manipulative and controlling Jax is, when it comes to them and others, if he knew you personally his words go in one ear and into the heart no matter what he says. He knew what people wanted to hear and told them the words they treasured, toyed them with promise of empty lies to fill the already fragile angered minds of the other Sector V soldiers that followed him down that path.

It didn't excuse their actions but it was one step closer to understanding the abandonment of the oath everyone swore in Sector V. Wolf exhaled slowly "I am not sure why he hates my very existence but I was not lying when I said that Williams had bestowed the title of commander to me, I don't know Williams location, if he is still alive or his intentions but I intend to upkeep my obligation and honour of our commander".
