"I have a confession to make." Yvonne suddenly blurted out from beside me in the training room.
"Yeah?" I said with a raised brow. Yvonne could hardly keep a secret even if it would save her life. It was a miracle everyone else didn't know about our secret training.
"I really struggled during the last test. I even almost passed out."
"No way!"
"Yes way! It was pretty awful."
"Looks like we'll have to up our game."
"Exactly!"
"You truly have been relaxing."
Yvonne looked down on the floor. "I know."
"You've clearly gotten too comfortable."
"That's why I'm going hard this time around."
"You absolutely should."
We trained tirelessly even if Catherine had put us through hell earlier. We'd grab lunch, hang out for a few hours in the common room and sneak off one by one. We would train until it was almost time for lights out then we would go back into the common room and go with everyone else when the signal for lights out went off.
"Impressive." Catherine said in the middle of training the following week.
"I've been seeing a lot of improvement lately. Keep up the good work." She told everyone.
"Leave my training room." She practically forced us out.
We made a beeline for the cafeteria and grabbed lunch which was a chicken sandwich with a large bowl of fruit. Dae-woo joined us after we had begun eating causing a shift in the energy.
"You guys don't mind if I join right?" He said after sitting down.
"We don't." Yvonne managed a small smile at him.
"We can't chase you away now." Toni said with a fake smile painted on her face. "You've sat down already anyways."
"Thanks." He said with a perfunctory nod.
He hung around us the rest of the day until Toni gave the signal for us to meet her at the training room.
"I can't get rid of him!" I desperately mouthed to Toni before she left, gesturing with my head to Dae-woo.
Toni huffed and subtly cornered him. "Why do you keep following us?"
"Where do you guys go everytime?" He answered our question with a question.
"How is that your business?" Yvonne asked him.
"I just wanted to talk to Jacqueline privately." He admitted.
"Some other time." Toni said, already dragging me away from him.
"I'll throw him off." Yvonne said when she noticed him try to follow us. "You guys go ahead."
Yvonne moved in the direction of the toilets and didn't show up again until about fifteen minutes later.
"Guys I discovered something cool." She was practically vibrating.
"What? How?" I asked, my eyes nearly out of their sockets.
"I used my powers."
"Again I ask. How?"
"He tried to stun me with his electric powers but I sent a gust of wind that was stronger than intended and it sent the electricity back to him."
"Serves him right." Toni chuckled.
"Oh my God Toni!" Kylie gasped. "You're so mean."
"He's meaner so..." Toni shrugged.
"So your powers can like turn people's powers back on them?" I asked Yvonne.
"Probably but we'll have to test it out and everything." Yvonne nodded.
"You'll also have to practise." Toni added.
"We could also try and see if we can do that as well." Kylie suggested.
"It will definitely give us an edge." Yvonne concluded.
We knew nothing about the next test. When it would come and what it would require but we were going to cover all bases and be prepared for just about anything.
