"Why did you call me?" Aditya asked nonchalantly, his gaze fixed on his grandfather.
"Why? Can't I miss my grandson without a reason?" Harivansh replied, a playful smile tugging at his lips.
Liar, liar, pants on fire.
Aditya rolled his eyes.
He bit back the urge to retort back. 'No, you can't!' But he knew better, If he said that, his grandfather would counter with something equally sharp, and it would lead to an argument. And he was too lazy to indulge in one with his grandpa right now because his grandpa is free all day but he is not.
With a sigh, Aditya leaned back in his chair.
"I've got work at the office. If you have something to say, just get to the point. Otherwise, I'm leaving," he said, checking his phone anxiously. He was waiting for a message, specifically one from Samir. The day Samir playfully ruffled Vartika's hair, he discreetly plucked out a strand without her noticing and went straight to the hospital after coming back. He hadn't mentioned a word of this to Aditya until this morning.
When Samir finally told him that they were expecting the results today, Aditya was furious, He was upset but there was an unexpected hope in his heart because he misses his unborn child, He couldn't describe what he was feeling right now. But at the same time he desperately wished Vartika wasn't his child. He wanted to trust Shivalika, to believe that she would never deceive him about something so serious. But if she had lied... he couldn't even begin to fathom what he might do.
Harivansh cleared his throat, his playful demeanor giving way to something more serious.
"That Day I didn't ask anything but I want to ask right now! Is something going on between you and that girl? How does her daughter know you?"Aditya rolled his eyes, anticipating where this conversation was heading.
And what's with 'that girl'? She has a name! Is it so difficult to call her by it? Or does he think that his tongue will burn if he says it out loud?
"Nothing is going on between us. What I told you earlier was the truth," he told him firmly.
'As if I would tell you if something was going on between us, huh' Aditya laughed in his mind.
"Are you sure? You mean, You have nothing to do with her!"
"No, I don't! Why are you asking this? It's just a waste of time!" Aditya retorted, frustration creeping into his voice. What had gotten into Harivansh all of a sudden?
Harivansh studied him for a few moments before finally speaking.
"As you say. Here" He dropped a file in front of Aditya, who frowned in confusion.
"What is it?" he asked looking up at his grandpa.
"Just take a look" Harivansh replied, his tone unreadable. He thought a lot what Arti said and he found it actually good, It will bring them in Aditya's good list and he will hate Shivalika more and this is what he wanted since the start.
Aditya stared at the file lying on his desk, his mind racing with possibilities. Hesitantly, he picked it up, flipping it open with a sense of dread. The first thing that caught his eye was the hospital's letterhead, and his heart skipped a beat, It was the hospital where Shivalika had an abortion.
"Hospital? What?" Aditya asked, trying to keep his voice steady.
"Just read it! You will get to know" Harivansh replied, his tone was casual. He was prepared for this after all. the thing he hid from Aditya was now in front of him, and cherry on the top this time he will not be blamed for his messed up relationships.
