"Will you listen to me, just once? For the last time?" Her words were fragile, each one hanging in the air like a final note of a song on the verge of ending. Her voice trembled with exhaustion, not just from the fight, but from everything, the chaos, the endless push and pull. She was ready to put a full stop not wanting to think about the consequences.

Aditya's breath hitched, and his heart thumped loudly. He wanted to know. He was waiting for her to come and tell him everything, whatever she felt, but now, even her trembling voice was scaring him. Was he ready to hear her? Would he be able to bear the truth?

"I never wanted to hide Vartika from you," she whispered. "I went to the hospital, I was determined to end the pregnancy. I stood there! ready to make that choice, but I couldn't... I couldn't kill my child, Aditya." Her lips quivered as tears streamed down her cheeks. "I didn't go through with it. I came back... I came back to you!!"

She swallowed hard, her eyes brimming with regret recalling the memories. "But then, I found out about your accident. It shattered me. I couldn't believe it, I was so shocked. I rushed to the hospital, I was desperate to see you, to know you were okay. But your grandfather—" her voice cracked  "He wouldn't even let me near you. He didn't care, he didn't listen. I begged him, Aditya. I begged to see you for a minute, just one minute... but he turned me away. He told me if I wanted you alright then I should leave, I know it sounds silly but at That time I was not thinking anything else but about You, I was emotionally so grossed that I couldn't think anything right"

Aditya looked surprised, All He knew was that Shivalika never visited him. At least this is what his parents and grandpa told him. He didn't know she visited him. He was kept in dark. All the time, His grandpa was lying to him, Manipulating him, telling him that she didn't care enough to even ask for his wellbeing. Of course, Shivalika wasn't lying, Her eyes said it all.

"I waited for hours. I tried to reach your parents, to tell them... to explain, but I couldn't find them. I was alone, helpless. I... I didn't know what else to do. So I decided to leave, But not permanently! I thought I would come back to see you and I did! Every day.. Every freaking day I came to the hospital to see you, I waited for you but I could even get the news of your wellbeing! Ask Your grandpa, Adi. He knows everything. Ask him How did he ask his man to push me out without letting me contact your parents! Neither I saw them nor they saw me all this time" She told him, her eyes glistening with tears.

"Then Why didn't you tell him that You were pregnant with my child? It could have been more easier, You could have put in more effort" Aditya asked with a look of disappointment, Okay he already knew that His grandpa did something and it was easy for him to hide all this but she could have tried a little more.

Her shoulders shook as she spoke, her voice barely above a whisper.

"What do You think I didn't want to tell him that I was pregnant with your child? So that he could have allowed me to meet you! Do you think it was easy? It is not a TV drama where I will tell them that I am pregnant and they will accept me! I was scared, Aditya. The man who could do anything to separate us, gave me a threat that he would hurt you if I didn't leave, Do you think he would have shown any mercy on the child in my womb? He could have hurt our baby too! I couldn't take a chance with my child! Even if it was only a threat! We both know that he might have done that. I used to think the same until I became pregnant, when It was my turn, I also became sensitive, the mother inside me wouldn't allow me! No mother could ever risk their children' life. Not even in their worst dream"

"And it's not just your grandpa," she continued, her voice shaking with anger and disgust. "My parents... they're no less. In fact, compared to them, your grandpa is nothing. They act all sweet and perfect in front of others, but it's just a mask. I never, in my worst nightmares, thought they could be like this." Her fists clenched at her sides, trembling with the weight of her pain.
