"Vee would be so hurt when she found out that her Sundar Nani and Nanu weren't beautiful on the inside." Shivalika took a step back, noticing the tears in her mother's eyes, but they didn't bring her pain this time. She felt...nothing.

She had made a mistake in the past by choosing her parents, but she wasn't going to make that same mistake again. She looked at them, her heart heavy and broken, when she heard a voice calling her name.

"Shivi."

She recognised the voice immediately.

Yash.

How could she forget it was the weekend? She turned to him, her teary eyes meeting his. There was rage in his gaze as he looked at her parents, disbelief clear on his face. He had been there from the start—

He had heard everything.

His jaw tightened. They hurt her. Her own parents had hurt her! They had tried to wound little Vee before she was even born. His heart ached.

And Shivalika hadn't thought of sharing this with him? She was his first best friend, and they shared a bond he'd always thought was unbreakable. How could she not trust him enough to tell him? Didn't she believe he would have saved her from her cruel parents?

"Yash," she whispered as he strode toward her.

He stopped just a few steps away from her, his eyes softening as he took in her tear-streaked face. She looked so small, so vulnerable, yet so strong for finally standing up to the ones who should have loved her unconditionally.

He looked at her parents, disgust and hate-filled in his eyes, He couldn't believe that he called them a family. How can they stoop so low?

"HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO YOUR OWN DAUGHTER!?" Yash's voice thundered as he shoved Arjun, making him stumble back. Both women standing there stared at him in shock.

"Yash!!!" Shivalika clutched his arm, trying to calm him down. She shook her head, her face streaked with fresh tears. He looked at her, his jaw clenched so tightly that his knuckles had turned white; he was seething with rage.

"See? Even now, she's stopping me! She still wants to protect you. You're her parents! Even strangers wouldn't treat her like this! So how could you?" He looked back at them, his voice laced with disbelief.

Shivalika's parents stood there silently. They didn't have any reply.

"She was just Pregnant! Was that really so hard to accept that you had to hurt her? I get that you were disappointed, but that doesn't give you the right to--SHAME ON YOU!" Shivalika flinched when he shouted from the top of his lungs at them.

"I thought your anger came from worry, that you were afraid Aditya might not be good enough for her. But now I see the truth—it's you who were never good enough as parents. If I had known how you were treating my sister, I would've taken her out of here a long time ago! I'm glad she chose Aditya over you. You're a stain on the name of parents!" His words dripped with venom, each one a sharp blow. Shivalika's parents stood there, stunned and silent, unable to respond.

"You guys deserve to go jail!!!" He said making them look at him in shock. Shivalika's eyes widened, She snatched his phone instantly when he took out his phone from his pocket.

"No, Yash!" She shook her head firmly, clutching the phone out of his reach. Before he could snatch it back, she grabbed his arm and pulled him into another room to speak with him privately.

But even behind the closed doors, Yash didn't calm down, How could he? After listening to what happened with his sister. His heart clenched with the thought, He is her brother, She ties Rakhi on his wrist every year, It was his duty to protect her, to keep her safe but he failed.
