"Yeah, good. It's good that you fell in love with me because I don't even know when I was not in love with you."
No, no, no... no. I chuckle internally. No... it can't be true... no. I misheard him... no. Lightning strikes loudly, making me jump on the spot, and he comes closer, but I take one step back.
"What... what did you just say?" I whisper, my voice barely audible above the sound of the rain beginning to pour. My body feels frozen.
"I said exactly what you heard, Ivy," he takes another step towards me, and I take one back. All the oxygen leaves my body at once. Cold raindrops caress my face as I stand still, thousands of emotions overwhelming me.
"Say something."
"You... you're lying... you can't love me... you-" I take another step back, and my back hits the wall. He takes one long step and ends up right next to me, cageing me between himself and the wall, with his right hand on the wall and his left on my waist. He scoffs, dropping his head slightly.
"The night at the ball when I saw you? I was in love. The night I saw you with your brother? I was pissed without even realiseing .I was in love. The night I saw you singing like an angel? Love. The night you finally forgave me? Love. The day I finally saw you smile? Love." A huge wave of wind blows, making a mess of my hair.
"I-I thought you just wanted to be friends?" I slowly whisper, and he looks at me like I said something against everything he stands for.
"Who the fuck told you that?" he whispers back, looking genuinely disturbed by what I said.
"I just assumed," I shrug. I don't even know what's happening anymore.
He softly removes the hair strands from my face. "Darling, I don't know if you've noticed, but I don't bring girls to bed and let alone cuddle with my 'friends' . I don't cook for my friends. I don't let my 'friends' call me Luca. I don't share clothes with my 'friends.' I don't finish series in two days to impress my 'friends.' I don't." He laughs, looking away from me. "I also don't dance in the shower just because I got to call someone my girlfriend."
He says this, making me chuckle, and he almost instantly looks at me, his laugh turning into a soft smile. "I also don't fall harder when I see my 'friends' smile," he whispers, looking at my lips with those heart eyes that somehow always make me melt.
The clouds boom again, and the wind starts to blow even faster, creating havoc in the atmosphere, but no havoc would ever be greater than the one going on in my heart.
For a while, we don't say anything, just looking into each other's eyes.
"So yeah... it's good that you fell in love with me," he whispers.
But my happy bubble bursts as soon as he steps away from me, making me frown.
"If you want to leave, then there's the door. You have five seconds because honestly, that's the longest I can control myself around you."
