JulyThe setting sun turned into a bright moon and the light turned into a solid night. I took a deep breath of the summer evening breeze and enjoyed her presence. I wanted to keep this moment deep in my mind.
I grabbed her by the shoulders and kissed the top of her head. This day is engraved directly in my heart, because I knew that such a moment might not happen anytime soon. I closed my lids and smelled her beautiful floral scent that always seemed to calm me down.
I ignored the pain throughout my body.
We entered the house, where it was already deep night. I pulled her into a tight hug and stroked her soft blonde hair. She raised her big blue eyes to me and smiled widely. Her perfect smile always left me speechless.
My heart and eyes melted.
This tiny intruder stole my heart that beat only for her. I would even turn the whole world upside down for her happiness and safety. I would sacrifice my life to save hers. She meant too much to me. It was a tempting offer for the enemies, but a big weakness for me.
I put those thoughts behind me the moment my lips touched hers. I caressed her cheek and licked her tongue. For a second I forgot about the problems and worries we had to face. I breathed in her scent again and my body calmed down.
"Why do you keep sniffing me? I feel like I stink. I feel so weird after that." she pouted her bottom lip angrily and I laughed. I cupped her face in my hands and smiled.
Did I mention how much I love this creature?
"Your scent is my drug," she furrowed her brows, "you smell beautiful, little cloud." she smiled widely.
"In that case, I allow you," I shook my head in disbelief.
"You're the case," I laughed.
"So, what should I think about it? You do it all the time." I smiled.
"Are you shooting it?" I turned my head when I heard a familiar voice from the living room. I frowned at Chris who shrugged her shoulders in surprise. I grabbed her hand and we walked to the door together. "Shoot it from this angle, Christopher. No, put it on the table. Come to us now!" I stopped in the doorway and watched her beautiful face. I haven't heard her for so long, I had already forgotten how beautiful her voice sounded.
"I'll leave you," Chris whispered and kissed my shoulder, "I'll wait for you." she turned and hurried up the stairs.
"Well, make a wish. For three! One, two, three!" we blew out the candles and mom's eyes lit up. "I'm going to cut it, sit down. Christopher, take the camera and film me cutting the cake." mom took a knife from the table and started cutting our birthday cake. My heart was beating so hard and fast that it felt like everyone in the house could hear it.
"Are you just going to stand there or join in?" I took a deep breath and walked over to him.
"I thought dad burned them," I told him and he smiled weakly, but his gaze was still on the screen. I sat down in the chair next to him.
"I stole them," he gritted his teeth, "over time the memories faded and I was afraid they would disappear completely. I needed something to remind me of her again." I understood it very well. My feelings were the same as his.
"Where did you get this recording from?" I turned my head to the TV again.
"I managed to save this one," I furrowed my brows.
"I wish I could hug her again," I whispered. I didn't know if he heard it, but I felt like I didn't. After all these years, the pain was still there like it was years ago. It never went away, it just settled somewhere deep inside me .I missed my mother. I wished for at least one day that I could see her again and tell her that I love her and that I miss her.
"I miss her, Maximiliano. She never stopped." as if reading my mind.
"Me too, bro," he looked at me and smiled weakly. It was a short emotion because he immediately started to look serious, "She would never want us to split up. She always said that no one would split us up." I said and he nodded. There was a tense silence between us, that's why I got a lump in my throat.
I already thought he wouldn't even speak when he spoke: "Max, I had no choice." At that time, I was going through a really difficult time and Sedmička was pushing me. He was still relentless," he ran his hands over his worried face, "I know I've made a lot of mistakes and they can't be undone, but trust me I've never forgotten you. It may never have seemed like it, but I cared more about you, like anyone but Isabel's death I wanted to die when he offered to forget me? Of course I didn't expect it to go that far or I would he had to stay." he spoke and my heart stopped at his voice.
"Why did you cut me out of your life?" I asked the question that had been bugging me all these years.
"I wanted to protect you. I did a lot of damage that I ran away from like a coward. I was out of control and needed to start all over again." I kept quiet because I needed to process it all.
"We have suffered a fate we didn't deserve, William," I finally said and he nodded.
"Was it all a lie? Was she really just messing with me?" he asked. I could tell it was weighing on his heart.
"It wasn't her game, William. She really loved you. More than my life." he looked at me with eyes full of pain.
"Then why?"
"You don't choose your family, William
