Five days ago

With shaking hands, I typed her number for at least the twentieth time, which always sent me to the mailbox. My heart was pounding as if frightened and my body was shaking with fear for her life.

I closed my eyelids painfully and ran my hands into my hair. My chest was heaving more and more violently and I was losing the necessary oxygen. I didn't close my eyes all night. I still had a message from an unknown number in front of my eyes.

I painfully rubbed my tired face and drank my fifth coffee in an hour. I did not hesitate to find out the truth. I wondered if it was some kind of trap or a stupid joke. I didn't care, I had to find out if he was okay. It was unusual for her to turn off her phone - she never did that, I know her.

I could feel the pressure in my chest that was tightening at the thought of her. Inside, I sensed that something was wrong.

The clock on the wall kept moving closer to the agreed time - the meeting. I was sweating like crazy from nervousness. I absentmindedly watched her empty bed and my stomach did a few flips. I dialed her number again and closed my eyes hard.

"I'm not here at the moment, but after I heard the tone-" I dialed and threw the phone against the wall, which broke on impact. a tear that still found its way out.I couldn't calm my restless body, as if it could.

My best friend is god knows where and I can't say anything. My heart hurt. My eyes wandered to the clock and it was time - time to find out the truth.

I took the keys and wallet in my hands. I ran out of the apartment and got into my car. The journey there was too short. Forever cursing that the roads are crowded, I would now gladly accept. I parked near the place where I was supposed to meet the stranger. I swallowed the lump in my throat and slowly got out of the car. I was so afraid - worried about her.

What if something happened to her?

What if I never see her again?

What if..

Lost in deep thoughts, I didn't notice that a black Land Rover pulled up next to me. A tall, fat, bald guy who oozed fear got out of it - I swallowed.

"Get in!" he said in a rough voice and I was completely frozen. He opened the door for me and I hesitantly got in. My eyes met hers and I blinked in surprise.

"Molly?" I breathed out in surprise.

"I'm glad you came, Lacey," she said in a cold voice and waved her hand to make the car move, shaking me uncomfortably.

"Molly, what's going on here? Is Shannon okay?" She nodded slowly.

"It is, for now," I frowned.

"What do you mean, not yet?" I didn't understand and measured my friend - that is, not a friend anymore. I absolutely did not understand what she had to do with all of this.

"I'm going to need you," she said and I raised an eyebrow.

"Need? And for what, please?" I frowned.

"Destroy William," she said in such a cold voice that it completely shook me.

"What do you need me and Shannon for?" she smiled mischievously.

"It was not my decision. I have certain documents to sentence him to death. He killed many people and was never punished. It's time for him to pay for everything." I rubbed my face because I felt like I was in a bad dream.

"Are you some kind of savior or what?" everything went over my head.

"Let's face it," she tilted her head to the side, "you have no idea what you two have gotten yourself into. That Marcus isn't innocent either. Do you know what his nickname is in the underworld?" I swallowed. "The executioner's arm."
