"Oh my God," I whispered in amazement, squealing with joy. My eyes ran over the screen of my cell phone and I couldn't believe the words that were typed there. It was true that I had really dug deep into this over the past few weeks and tried to give it my best shot. Hard work always pays off. All excited, I burst open the door and flew into the apartment, , "Lacey, you're not going to believe this, but-" I paused on the doorstep and had another small heart attack.

Lacey wasn't having it at all right now with some dude on my, well on our couch!

"Oh my God!" I repeated for the second time, storming out of the apartment early as if I was about to see something I shouldn't. Although it was futile because Aaron with a capital P, had a really big P, ,,oh my god, that's a shame. That's a terrible shame!" I said quietly, grabbing my forehead.

Me, if I catch her, I'll strangle her!

The door opened and out came an already dressed blonde man. He was about to say something, but my hand stopped him.

"Don't say anything, I've seen enough." The guy laughed and shook his head.

"Crazy women." I walked in just as she was putting on her bra. She turned towards me and started laughing. I crossed my arms and looked her over angrily.

"Haha, awfully funny," I frowned, ,,why on the couch of all places? Can't you practice these things in your room! God knows what all you managed to baptize!" I teased.

"He's pretty comfortable," I fucking know! This sight of the two of them will haunt me in nightmares for a long time to come, ,,what were you saying before you disturbed us?" She asked and my temper shot up again.

"I got an internship here!" I squealed. I was really happy about that.

"That's great, Shannon, we need to celebrate!" I paused.

"No, Lacey!" I stopped her before she could say anything. I picked up the book I was reading, ,,I have a date with Alex and Lauren today." I pointed to the book in my hand and Lacey rolled her annoyed eyes.

"you're a terrible dryer, god," she pulled her white top over her head, , "we'll come get you at eight, get ready," She got dressed, "Have a good time!" and she was gone.

"I'm not going anywhere." I whispered to myself. I was in a good mood, a good mood, even an excellent mood, but a party in the city with drunk people didn't really attract me. I could have celebrated in the quiet of my own home, I'd have taken the wine that Lacey and I could have drunk on the couch.

I didn't need to get drunk to the point where I couldn't walk - Lacey practiced that often enough, and that was quite enough for me. Other things were more important to me, and this kind of thing wasn't for me.

The door to my room suddenly flew open and I sleepily flew out of bed. The book I had on my chest fell to the floor Ouch, it hurt my eyes. I must have fallen asleep because when I looked at my watch, it read before eight. Lacey sized me all over and huffed in annoyance.

"Shannon?" She crossed her arms over her chest and scowled at me.

"Lacey?" We stared into each other's eyes and neither of us batted an eye. My heart was still racing.

"You're lucky I know you so well," they clapped, ,,we have less than an hour until that new club I mentioned to you opens. Aaron, with a capital P, grabbed the tickets. Isn't that great?" I rolled my eyes. I knew I wasn't going to get out of this situation easily, so I didn't even protest when she led me to her dressing table and started painting me. Thinking back on it all again, we are different in every way, but we have always stuck together anyway. We've known each other for so long.

"You'll see, it'll be great." She said an hour later when we were both walking down the lighted stairs to the bar. The loud music was blasting into my brain. She held my hand tightly so I wouldn't get lost in the crowd. The whole group of us had just gone to sit down in the booth when I saw a tall blond man with blue eyes walking towards us. I jerked Lacey's hand and she turned around with a question in her eyes.

"What's Leon doing here?" I asked, but she didn't have time to answer since he was too close.

"Hi," he greeted everyone and his buddies sat down in our booth, , "hi." He turned towards me and my heart almost jumped out of my chest. Lacey pulled me sharply into the box until I thought I was going to trip.

"James invited him. I'm sorry, I didn't know. Today is a good opportunity." She winked at me, but by then James had already brought us alcohol - wine for me.

When he sat down next to me, I could feel my own heart beating the whole time.

"Cheers," I picked up my glass of red wine, "here's to you Shannon. To your internship!" We chirped and I smiled. I took a sip and closed my eyelids pleasantly.

"Congratulations Shannon, you're really smart." I jerked when I heard his deep voice next to my ear. I smiled at him in shock. I took a sip and when he put his hand on my thigh, I almost collapsed. On one hand, I was starting to be glad Lacey had talked me down. I'd liked Leon for a pretty long time, but he had a girl he'd only recently broken up with. I took another drink, but this time I drank it to my ex. His hand on my thigh stroked me the whole time and I couldn't even breathe properly while he did it.

"This is my song! We gotta go dancing, baby!" Lacey yelled from beside me, already-wrestling me onto the dance floor. I felt a little dizzy, and if it wasn't for Leon, I would have fallen to the floor.

Since I don't drink, I can get drunk very quickly!

"Watch out,' he laughed and I dragged him to the dance floor.

Shit!

His hands moved to my hips, I swallowed. I gingerly touched his hard chest, as if afraid he would disappear and melt into my imagination. I turned my head to Lacey, who already had her tongue in someone else's mouth. I shook my head and turned to Leon. He was looking at me the whole time and smiling, , "shall we go somewhere else?" I had just had a shock!
