Arabella's place was usually a haven of comfort, filled with warm light and the familiar scent of her favorite vanilla candles. But today, an awkward tension hung in the air as she, Cameron, Ryan, and Luna sat in the living room, a palpable discomfort settling over them. The four had planned to hang out, but something felt off from the start, an unspoken unease making the atmosphere heavy.
Arabella was the first to notice the strange vibes, her usually easy-going smile fading slightly as she looked around at her friends. "So... what's been up with you guys?" she asked, trying to break the ice.
Luna and Ryan exchanged a glance, and then Luna took a deep breath, her expression conflicted. "Actually, there's something we need to tell you both," she began hesitantly, her fingers nervously fidgeting with the hem of her shirt. "Ryan and I... we joined Miyagi-Do."
The words hung in the air like a grenade, waiting to explode. Cameron's eyes widened, her face quickly shifting from surprise to disbelief, and then to anger. "What the fuck?" she snapped, her voice rising. "You joined Miyagi-Do? Where my ex-boyfriend goes and my dad is the Sensei? You remember he kicked me out, right?!"
Luna's face fell, and she looked down, not sure how to respond. "I— I didn't think—" she started, but Ryan immediately jumped in, stepping in front of her protectively.
"It wasn't Luna's idea," Ryan said firmly, his gaze locking with Cameron's. "It was mine. We joined hoping maybe you guys would change your minds, maybe even join us—"
"Change our minds?!" Cameron cut him off, her voice filled with incredulity and fury. "You expect me to just forget that my dad kicked me out? That my ex, who hurt me, trains there? What the hell is wrong with you, Ryan? I thought you were my friend!"
Ryan's face hardened, his patience fraying. "We were thinking about what might be good for all of us, Cam! Miyagi-Do is about balance, about finding peace—"
"Peace?!" Cameron yelled, standing up and pointing an accusatory finger at him. "The only peace I'll find is when I don't have to deal with that dojo anymore! And you—" she turned her glare to Luna, who flinched slightly. "You knew exactly what it meant to me, and you still went along with it!"
Luna's eyes welled up, but she bit her lip, staying silent. She didn't know how to defend herself when Cameron was so clearly hurt. Ryan, seeing this, stepped closer to Cameron, his voice tight with frustration. "We just wanted to do something that might help bring us all together again—"
