Cameron stood stiffly near the edge of the Cobra Kai dojo, her hands clenched into tight fists at her sides. Her breath was shallow, her stomach an uncomfortable ball of nerves, and her heart pounded against her ribs like it wanted to break free. The dojo, with its familiar smell of leather and sweat, felt like a pressure cooker, the air thick with expectation. Her eyes scanned the room, her mind racing as she watched the Miyagi-Do crew walk in one by one. Each student moved with the same disciplined grace, their faces a mix of quiet defiance and firm resolve. Cameron couldn't help but feel a little like an outsider in this sea of faces.
Her sister, Sam, was the first to step through the doors. Cameron's eyes snapped to her immediately. Sam walked with the usual air of confidence, her shoulders squared, her eyes focused straight ahead, as if she were completely unaffected by the tension that hung in the air. But when Sam's eyes met hers, for the briefest of moments, something flickered between them. Sam's eyes softened, and for the first time in what felt like forever, Cameron could almost read her-could almost see the doubt and hesitation there. But Sam didn't break stride, giving Cameron a small, subtle nod. It was the kind of gesture that should have felt reassuring, but instead, it made Cameron's stomach churn.
Her twin sister. The good twin. The one who always seemed to have everything together while Cameron... well, Cameron had never been the good twin. She had always been the rebel, the one who did things her own way. It wasn't that she didn't love Sam-she did, more than anything-but the jealousy that had always simmered beneath the surface flared to life now, ignited by the weight of the choices Cameron had made recently. She couldn't even bring herself to smile back at Sam's brief acknowledgment.
