The arena was alive-buzzing with electric energy that shimmered through the air like static. Every cheer, every round of applause, every pounding footstep echoed off the high ceilings like thunder. The Sekai Taikai opening ceremony was unlike anything Cameron LaRusso had ever experienced before, but instead of awe or pride, all she felt was a cold, gnawing unease that dug into her stomach like a rusted blade.

She stood stiffly near the back of the arena, her Cobra Kai uniform crisp and spotless: black with red trim, bold and sleek, demanding attention. But she didn't want attention. Not now. Not like this. Her hands fidgeted with the hem of her gi jacket-tightening it, loosening it, adjusting the belt-anything to keep them from shaking. Her jaw clenched as she kept her expression unreadable, the way Sensei Kim had drilled into them during every class.

Beside her, Kwon Jae-Sung looked completely at ease, his back straight, chest out, arms folded confidently as he scanned the crowd with practiced intensity. He belonged here. He exuded dominance, the perfect Cobra Kai soldier. Cameron wasn't sure what she was anymore.

Gunther, the towering announcer in a sharp blazer and head mic, stepped onto the center stage, flanked by other tournament officials and sponsors. Spotlights swirled overhead, glinting off the banners of international dojos that hung from the rafters like battle flags. The crowd quieted in anticipation.

"Welcome, competitors, senseis, sponsors, and esteemed guests to Barcelona, this year's home of the world's greatest karate tournament-the Sekai Taikai!" Gunther's booming voice exploded through the stadium, met instantly with an eruption of applause.

Cameron clapped-barely. Her palms met with a dull, reluctant pat. She wasn't really here, not fully. Her eyes scanned the crowd, her breath catching when she found them.
