CAMERON SWAM TO THE TOP OF THE WATER. Taking a deep breath, Cameron emerged from the pool, feeling the cool water drip down her skin. Her hands brushed through her wet hair, sending droplets scattering around her. She glanced over and saw her dad, Daniel, beckoning her with a warm smile. Determined, she furrowed her eyebrows, reaching for her sweater and slipping it on, feeling the fabric hug her body. As she made her way towards her dad, she couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and curiosity.

She wrapped her arms around her dad, savoring the familiar embrace. Then, her gaze shifted to her dad, who stood nearby. A bright smile lit up her face as she greeted him, "Hey, dad! You finally came." The warmth in her voice conveyed genuine affection.

Daniel returned the hug, his presence offering a sense of comfort. However, his next words brought a tinge of disappointment. "I'm sorry to say that Sam isn't here," he said, his expression turning slightly somber. Cameron shrugged, trying to hide her disappointment. "It's alright, I suppose," she replied, her voice tinged with a hint of resignation. "She's off hanging out with her popular friends."

Daniel let out a sigh, a subtle admission of regret evident in his demeanor. "Yeah, she is. I'm sorry, sweetheart," he began, a wistful tone underscoring his words. "I miss seeing you my daughters bond. I know she's been...drifting from you," he acknowledged, observing as she nodded with a trace of sadness etched on her face.

In her attempts to bridge the growing gap with Sam, she had persistently tried to reach out. However, Sam's consistent response was a polite but disheartening declaration of pre-existing plans. "It's okay, Dad. I'm used to it now," she replied, her words carrying a tinge of acceptance and resilience in the face of changing dynamics.

Daniel's gaze softened, a hint of concern reflecting in his eyes. "I wish things were different," he admitted, a touch of helplessness in his voice. "Maybe there's a way to reconnect with her, find out what's going on in her life," he suggested, offering a glimmer of hope.

She looked up, appreciating his concern. "I've tried, dad. It just seems like she has other priorities now," she confessed, a mixture of disappointment and understanding in her expression. Despite the emotional distance, her resilience shone through. "But I'm okay. I've found my own path," she added, a small but determined smile breaking through the lingering sadness.

As they sat in a momentary silence, the distant hum of life outside enveloping them, Daniel gently placed a hand on her shoulder. "Remember, relationships have their ups and downs. People change, but love and understanding can endure," he offered, his touch conveying both reassurance and a silent promise.
