Katie's POV.

"Who is this young lady?" They were all staring at me now. I gave a tight lipped smile and Alex's father spoke.

"She smells like a vampire but is definitely not one"

"Uh..it is no one, just one of the slaves my wife got before she passed" he said quickly.

"She is quite...well dressed for a slave" Evelyn's mother said staring me down.

"And pretty too, almost like she is noble Lady" her brother added.

Alex's father let out a short and awkward laugh. "She is a slave, get our guest some tea now,would you?" He spoke.

I stared at him before nodding I turned and head to kitchen but I heard...

"Can we take her back with us?"
Which caused Alex's father to laugh and I could not hear anymore.

I told one of the maids to take the tea to the guests, I sat with Silvia in the kitchen while she made food.

"So....The others have been curious.." she started and I looked at her, she was stirring into a pot.

"...What is your relationship with the young master?" She said giving me a knowing smile. I blinked at her.

"Well...uh...we are...um, we are friends or acquaintance..no-not anything other than friends" she looked at me nodding with a smile.

"Of course" she giggled.

"I am being honest" I said hoping she believes me.
The other maids in the kitchen were definitely listening they were whispering and giggling.

"I would love to believe you Katie, I really would but...." She stared at me smiling again.

"W-what?"

"You smell like the young master"

"I always smell like him, we sleep in the same room" I added quickly.

"That is correct but you smell more like him, like he placed a mark on you..." She spoke..

"He did not!....I mean, he did not, huh it is just...we are friends, alright? Just friends"

"Just friends?"

"Just friends" I Said and she simply nodded the smile never leaving her lips as she went back to stirring.

"Katherine?" I heard and jumped slightly, I saw Alex. "What are you doing here?" He asked as they greeted him.

"I came to say Hello to Silvia" I said motioning to Silvia that was now focusing on cooking like she was not asking my relationship with him earlier.

"Hm, come on" he held my hand and I followed him out. "Did you eat?" He asked and I shook my head. "Why not?"

"Silvia is making soup, I want that instead"

I looked back and I saw Silvia smirking as we left the kitchen.

This does not help with the rumors

We walked back to the living room where Evelyn's family were still sitting.

And immediately.

"Oh, Alex you are back....I did not see you come in" his father spoke making the others look in our direction.

Alex stopped, his hand still holding mine, his father glanced at our joint hands and i gently pulled my hand away from his.

Making Alex look at me and I stared at the floor.

"I...passed through the back" he replied still looking at me.

"Alexander, I have heard so much about you from your father and Evelyn" her mother greeted smiling warmly at Alex that totally ignored her.
