Ikzo
"There's no way they've left this galaxy." Pher examined the screen in front of us.
It blinked with all the different ships that were between our planet and Nastruapra.
"Where else would he take her?" Ovath asked.
"No where," Pher responded. "No other planet would accept the ship. He has no reason to give and he is already in the system as an offender."
Though my eyes were on the maps in front of me my mind was locked on hers. I could see the room she was in as she pictured it but it would blur when she spoke to people. Reading minds this way was more difficult. I could hear all the thoughts she had but it was hard to keep up when she spoke. Ones she thought and ones she actually spoke got mixed up sometimes. Then when someone answered her if she didn't ponder the question too long it would be lost.
From what I knew she was in a metal room with one door. There was another man inside with her, one I got a look at when she quickly compared his features to Straxiums. She wasn't gravely injured but the minimal that had happened made me seethe.
He hurt her and I was going to kill him for it. I already knew how to handle him the only problem was not wasting time and keeping Heather from seeing it. I knew he told her about what I did to him and her thoughts on it. While she wasn't upset with my actions I still didn't want her seeing that side of me.
I didn't want him to get another opportunity to hurt her either. It was already my fault that he got out. I should have paid more attention. I shouldn't have underestimated his alliances within his own planet. They used my distraction with Heather and her mother to sneak in. The break in was tracked down to a few starpasses ago. They flew in and landed on the opposite side of Occolla. From there they used camouflage to walk to the prison. From the one guard that was left alive by mistake he said they forced their way in. They killed anyone they saw on their way to his cell then snuck him out the same way they got in.
While I planned on returning the favor when I found them this would have to be taken to a higher authority. Lehmun, our leader, was already preparing to leave for Nastruapra to speak with their leader. Our actions were right by the law, there's were not. Not only had they ignored a direct order from a Hye Jish, they also took and harmed a Hye Jisha. Those who aided knew the laws they were breaking by releasing a criminal. The only order Lehmun gave me was to inform him when Heather was found. I had free reign on the others.
Ikzo, her voice flooded my mind.
I wanted to scream back that I could hear her. That I was working on finding her right now. It physically hurt that I couldn't reassure her.
Whatever she was going to say was cut off. The thoughts shifted in her mind to someone coming in the room. It only took a few seconds to figure out it was Straxium.
With both panic and rage I shoved Phers hand off the screen. He was zooming out to show the galaxy in case the ship had left. We were all pretty positive they were in a ship. I knew from her mind that the room looked similar to the one on their craft.
The room went silent at my action. I felt all of them staring at me as I started punching in new code into the machine. I knew what they were thinking without being in their minds. They were worried for me, sorry that I was in this situation. I didn't care about any of their thoughts or feelings. All I cared about was getting Heather back. My mind couldn't grasp on to theirs even if it wanted to.
I made the screen pull up the last few starpasses, dragging the focus over the forest by the craters. The machine automatically switched to the sensors in that area. On Occolla we had ground sensors that monitored ship landing and departures. They appeared as red dots. The problem was if they left the planet I wouldn't be able to tell where they went from there. However if I could get a general direction I could track it in my own craft.
