The obsidian throne room of Zelerious’s castle was dimly lit, the only light coming from the torches that lined the ancient stone walls. Shadows danced along the black marble floors, creating a living tapestry of darkness. Zelerious sat back, his fingers drumming rhythmically against the armrest, lost in thought. The growl of Ancalagon echoed faintly in his mind, a signal that his dragon had awakened and that Valeria had been found. The corner of his lips curved into a slow, dark smile. Finally, after all this time, he was close to reclaiming what was rightfully his.

But as his thoughts wandered to Valeria, a wave of frustration swept over him, twisting his expression into a scowl. She wouldn’t remember him, not as he needed her to. The curse he had placed on her so long ago had seen to that. His own rash anger, a decision made in the heat of betrayal, had shattered her memories across the vast expanse of time and space. Even now, she was nothing more than a shadow of her true self, Elanora, his queen. The curse had bound them both, and every eclipse, his body was reminded of it, the black veins creeping over his skin, a physical manifestation of the dark magic that had cursed them both.

He needed her memories to be whole again. He needed her to remember him, to remember their past, the power they wielded together, the love they once shared. Without that, all his efforts to bring her back to his side would be for nothing. Zelerious’s eyes narrowed, glowing a deep crimson as his thoughts focused on the single artifact that could change everything: the Memory Shard of the Abyss.

The shard was a legend, whispered about in the darkest corners of the universe. It was said to hold the power to restore lost memories, to bring back what time and magic had erased. Zelerious had searched for it before, centuries ago, but its location had eluded him. Now, with Valeria so close, the need to find the shard was more pressing than ever.

He stood from his throne, his long black cloak trailing behind him like a shadow. His footsteps echoed in the vastness of the hall as he made his way to the ancient library, a place where the knowledge of millennia was kept. The air was thick with the scent of old parchment and magic, and the walls were lined with shelves that stretched up into the darkness, filled with tomes and scrolls of forbidden knowledge.

Zelerious extended his hand, a tendril of dark energy snaking out from his fingertips, reaching for a specific scroll tucked away on the highest shelf. The scroll floated down into his hand, unrolling itself as he scanned the ancient script written in a language long forgotten by all but the oldest beings in the universe.

“Valley of Forgotten Shadows,”  he murmured to himself, his voice a low growl. “The Keepers of the Abyss…" His eyes flickered over the text, absorbing the details of the journey that lay ahead. The valley was located in a remote part of the universe, beyond the reach of any known galaxy, guarded by ancient celestial beings who tested the worthiness of those who sought the shard.

Zelerious’s eyes glowed brighter, a mix of excitement and determination coursing through him. The shard was within reach, but he knew the journey would not be easy. He would have to pass through treacherous regions of space, evade cosmic storms, and face beings whose power might rival his own. But Zelerious was not one to shy away from a challenge, especially when the prize was something as invaluable as Valeria’s memories.

“Ambrose,” Zelerious called out, his voice resonating through the castle. His loyal servant appeared almost immediately, his expression one of calm readiness. “Prepare the portal. We leave for the Valley of Forgotten Shadows at once.”**

Ambrose bowed deeply, his face betraying a hint of concern. “The journey is dangerous, my lord. The Keepers are formidable, and the valley itself is said to be a place where even time does not exist.”

“I am well aware of the dangers,” Zelerious replied sharply, his eyes glowing with a fierce light. “But I need that shard. Without it, Valeria will never remember who she truly is. She will never remember us, our bond, our love.” His voice softened at the end, a rare moment of vulnerability that he allowed only in Ambrose’s presence. “I will not let anyone stand in my way. Not the Keepers, not Tharollin, not even the gods themselves.”

Ambrose nodded, understanding the depth of Zelerious’s resolve. “As you command, my lord. I will make the preparations. The portal will be ready shortly.”

Zelerious watched as Ambrose disappeared to carry out his orders. He turned back to the scroll, his mind already racing with plans and strategies. The Memory Shard was the key to everything. It was the key to Valeria’s memories, to their future together. He would face whatever trials awaited him in the Valley of Forgotten Shadows, confront any being who dared to challenge him, all for the chance to make Valeria remember.

With a final glance at the scroll, Zelerious turned and made his way to the portal chamber, his heart filled with a sense of purpose. He would find the shard. He would bring back Elanora’s memories. And he would make Valeria his queen once more, as it was always meant to be.
