As the elemental kings stepped inside the coven, they were met with a breathtaking sight. The interior was vast, stretching out far beyond what the exterior suggested, like a cavern carved out by ancient magic. Crystals of every color jutted from the walls and ceiling, catching the light from floating orbs that hovered above, casting a kaleidoscope of colors throughout the space. The light played across the surfaces, making the entire room glitter as if it were filled with stars.

The floor was covered in a thin layer of ice, reflecting the colors of the crystals and light, giving the illusion that they were walking on a frozen lake that stretched out infinitely. Each step the kings took echoed softly, the sound absorbed by the ice and crystals, adding a surreal quality to the atmosphere.

“This place…” Kian began, his voice trailing off in awe. “It’s more than just a coven. It’s a sanctum, a nexus of power.”
Alexander nodded, his eyes scanning the expanse. “Emilia’s magic is strong here. It feels like the energy of the entire mountain is channeled into this space.” He looked toward the far end of the cavern, where the walls were lined with more crystals, larger and more vibrant than the others. “We need to be careful. This is a place of great power, but also great danger.”
Asher’s gaze was drawn to the ice-covered floor, noting how the reflections of light seemed to move, almost like water. “The ice," he murmured. “It’s not natural. It’s infused with magic.” He could feel the chill radiating through the soles of his boots, a coldness that seeped into his bones, sharper and more intense than any he’d felt before.
Jerone stood slightly apart from the others, his arms crossed over his chest, eyes narrowed as he took in the surroundings. “This isn’t just Emilia’s doing,” he said, voice edged with suspicion. “Valeria’s presence is here too. I can feel her magic, interwoven with the crystals and the ice. She’s part of this place.”
A sudden breeze swept through the cavern, stirring the light orbs and making the crystals hum with a soft, musical sound. The kings turned toward the source of the breeze, seeing a set of stairs carved from ice leading deeper into the coven. A faint glow emanated from below, beckoning them forward.
"She’s down there,” Asher said, already moving toward the stairs. The pull of their bond was stronger now, almost tangible, as if Valeria’s very soul was calling out to them.
Kian moved to follow, his hand brushing against one of the crystals as he passed. It resonated with his touch, sending a ripple of light through the cavern. “Valeria’s magic is responding to us,” he said, voice tinged with wonder. “She’s connected to this place in a way I can’t quite explain.”
Alexander’s gaze sharpened. “Then we must proceed. But we do so with caution. Whatever magic binds Valeria to this coven, we must understand it. Only then can we find a way to help her, to bring her back to us.”
The kings descended the stairs, the ice beneath their feet solid and unyielding. The glow from below grew brighter with each step, and the air became colder, filled with a potent energy that prickled at their skin. As they reached the bottom, the space opened into another chamber, smaller and more intimate, with a central dais made of black crystal.
At the center of the dais, surrounded by a circle of glowing runes, stood Valeria. Her eyes were closed, her face serene, as if in a deep trance. The Destroyer, her sword, was in her hand, its blade emitting a soft blue light that pulsed in time with the runes beneath her feet. Emilia stood beside her, her hands raised, weaving a protective barrier around them both.
“Valeria,” Asher whispered, his voice thick with emotion. He took a step forward, but the barrier shimmered in response, a warning that any attempt to cross it would be met with resistance.
Emilia’s eyes snapped open, fixing on the kings with a mixture of surprise and determination. “You shouldn’t be here,” she said, her voice echoing through the chamber. “This is a place of ancient power, a place where Valeria’s past and future converge. You risk everything by intruding.”
Alexander stepped forward, his stance firm but non-threatening. “We don’t mean any harm, Emilia. We only want to understand. Valeria is our mate, and we need to know what’s happening to her.”
Emilia’s gaze softened slightly, but her barrier remained intact. “The past cannot be changed, only understood,” she said. “Valeria’s memories, her power, are awakening. But she’s torn between what she was and what she is. Until she reconciles her past life as Elanora, the queen of Zelerious, with her present, she cannot fully become who she is meant to be.”
Jerone’s jaw clenched, the mention of Zelerious reigniting his anger. “So she’s meant to be his, then? Is that what you’re saying? That her place is at his side, as his queen?”
Emilia shook her head. “No, her fate is not set in stone. But the bonds of her past are strong. The only way for her to move forward is to face them, to make a choice.”
The kings stood in silence, the weight of Emilia’s words settling over them. The path ahead was unclear, but one thing was certain—they would not leave Valeria’s side, no matter what. Together, they would face whatever trials awaited them, and together, they would find a way to free Valeria from the shadows of her past.
