Anay was at the club with his friends—his first night out in a long while. Ever since returning from his Thailand trip, most of his time had been spent at home, chasing after Erica. But tonight was different. Tonight was for the party. There were drinks, flashing lights, loud music, girls, and the usual gang of reckless, entitled rich boys.
Anay stood at the bar, drinking and smoking, quieter than usual.
Rajat, one of his closest friends, noticed and raised a brow. A girl sat draped across his lap as he asked, "What happened, Anay? You’re not very active today! Don’t you find someone interesting here that you’re drinking alone?"
"Nothing like that, bro... it’s just... I’m not in the mood."
"Let’s set your mood!" Rishab laughed and pulled him toward the dance floor.
Anay went along, though half-heartedly. Rishab introduced him to Monika and pushed them to dance. She was all over him, inching closer with every beat of the music. In normal circumstances, Anay would’ve welcomed it. Enjoyed it. But tonight, his mind was consumed.
Erica.
Her face. Her voice. Her refusal to leave his thoughts.
Midway through the dance, he gently stepped back from Monika, ignoring her confused look, and walked outside into the night air.
For the first time, the club—the drinks, the women, the chaos—felt empty. Hollow.
And he knew. He wanted Erica. No matter what. He needed to talk to her. Solve this. Make her his.

A week passed after Erica and Kabir’s argument.
Erica had cut herself off from him. She was determined not to get hurt again.
It was morning. Kabir and Anay sat at the dining table having breakfast when Erica came downstairs. She wore a plain red saree, draped with a deep-neck, sleeveless blouse. Her messy bun and minimal makeup gave her a look that was simple—yet undeniably alluring.
Kabir was sipping from his cup when his gaze landed on her.
He choked.
She looked absolutely mesmerizing.
Without acknowledging either of them, Erica walked past and spoke only to Tai, "I’m going to meet my friend, Tai. I’ll come in the evening."
As she turned, the backless blouse revealed the delicate curve of her spine.
Kabir’s eyes lingered.
And then, suddenly, his gaze shifted—straight to Anay.
He was staring at Erica like a lovestruck puppy.
Kabir’s jaw clenched. His grip tightened around his cup. He was just about to get up and do something when Erica stepped out of the house and disappeared from sight.
---
At Night
Kabir stood at his shooting range, firing shot after shot with ruthless precision. His fingers clenched the gun, his eyes focused but burning.
Memories flashed in his head like bullets: Anay’s gaze on Erica, Samaira’s bitter words. She doesn’t matter to you? His mind whispered ,If only that were true.
No matter how much he denied it—it affected him. Deeply.
He was trying to numb the noise, and the shooting helped… but only for a moment.
---
Back at home, Erica was walking toward her room when Anay suddenly pulled her into a nearby one.
"What the hell?!" she snapped, pushing him off.
"Erica, listen to me... I’m not here to harm you. I want to say... I’m really sorry. I was a fool. Erica, I love you. I can’t live without you."
"Have you gone mad, Anay? I’m your brother’s wife. You can’t say these things to me. Whatever we had is in the past. I don’t feel anything for you," she said, yanking her hand out of his grip.
"It’s stepbrother!" he snapped. "And what wife, huh?! Do you even know why he married you? Just for a mere MD position. He did it out of greed. And here you are, playing this pati-vrata patni to him!"
His words hit her like a slap.
And then… she remembered.
"I’m marrying you because of my father. Because in return, I’m going to get what I want."
Kabir’s voice from the day of their marriage echoed in her head. Cold. Calculated.
So that’s what he meant...
She stood frozen, her mind racing, her body locked in place. That moment of vulnerability was all Anay needed.
He stepped forward and pulled her into a hug.
"I love you... I love you so much, baby. I’ve understood your worth. I can’t live without you," he murmured, tightening his arms around her.
Erica froze, shocked.
It took a second to register—and then she began struggling, wiggling to free herself.
Suddenly—
The door slammed open.
Kabir.
He saw Erica in Anay’s arms.
Without a word, he lunged.
Before anyone could react, Kabir began beating Anay mercilessly. Blow after blow landed—his fists fueled by rage, betrayal, and something deeper, darker. Erica tried to pull him back, screaming his name, but he was unstoppable.
Blood gushed from Anay’s nose and mouth as the entire house came running to the scene.
Kabir’s father barged in, yanking him away.
"Have you gone mad, Kabir?!" he roared.
Kabir didn’t answer. His eyes were still locked on Anay, murderous and wild.
He stepped forward again.
"What are you trying to—" his father began, but the words caught in his throat—
—because Kabir had drawn his gun.
He raised it. Pointed it straight at Anay’s forehead.
Everyone froze.
Smriti screamed and rushed forward, shielding Anay behind her.
"Kabir, please… please don’t shoot! Kabir, please…!" Erica cried, grabbing his hand, trying to lower the gun. "Please Kabir, no... no… no… please!" Her voice cracked with panic. Her fingers curled around his wrist, desperate to stop him.
Kabir didn’t move. He stood like a raging bull, the gun steady, finger on the trigger.
"Kabir! Put the gun down, I said!" his father bellowed.
"Please, Kabir… don’t shoot my son! Please, I beg you!" Smriti cried, sobbing uncontrollably. "Whatever you want, he’ll do. Please put the gun down. He’s my only son, Kabir. I’m begging you!"
Anay stood still. Silent. Unflinching. Not afraid—just staring at Kabir.
Kabir didn’t blink.
Then, finally—
"For your mother, I’m leaving you,but next time you won't be spared" Kabir threatened coldly.
He grabbed Erica’s wrist and stormed out of the room, dragging her with him.
