The aroma of spices filled the kitchen, wrapping around Erica like a warm embrace as she hurriedly stirred a pot on the gas. She was making sure everything is perfect in the kitchen... since the time Kabir came from hospital so much have happened...she doubts if he had a proper meal even once....so she is making everything of his Choice by herself.... She wanted everything to be perfect for him.

She meticulously prepared his favorite dishes, pouring every ounce of love and care into each one. The thought of him sitting down to eat, perhaps softening at the sight of the spread she had created, filled her with hope. Maybe, just maybe, this gesture would melt the icy walls a little bit between them and may be she get a chance to talk.

After hours of cooking, the dining table was adorned with a feast-colorful curries, fragrant rice, and a decadent dessert she knew he loved. She stepped back to admire her hardwork , her heart swelling with anticipation as she waited for him to arrive.

Minutes stretched into what felt like hours, and finally, she heard the sound of footsteps. Kabir entered, his expression weary, eyes shadowed with fatigue. He moved toward his room without a glance at the table, but one of the maids called out softly, "Sir, dinner is ready. May I set it all up?"

Kabir paused, looking around with a detached air. His gaze landed on Erica, standing by the table, hope flickering in her eyes. "Not needed," he replied curtly, "I'm not hungry." He turned to leave.

Panic surged through Erica, and she rushed after him, grasping his hand to halt his retreat. "Mujhe naraaz ho... khane pe kyun gussa utaar rahe ho?" Her voice trembled with desperation.

He pulled his hand away, frustration evident in his tone. "I'm not angry with anyone. I won't eat because I had dinner."

"Kabir," she pleaded, her voice cracking. "I know you're lying. You wouldn't eat at a working site."

His cold laugh echoed in the hallway, a bitter sound that sent a chill through her. "Of course you know I'm lying. That's what I do best, right?" He attempted to walk away again, but Erica stepped in front of him, blocking his path.

"Kabir, please... I made all this with so much love and hard work." As she spoke, tears brimmed in her eyes, threatening to spill over.

He folded his arms, a defensive posture that made her heart ache. "Don't do your hard work for a bastard like me. And please don't say the love part. In our situation, using that word would be a disgrace."

"Kabir, please don't say-"

"Actually, please, I beg you, go from here. I don't want to be mean to you or hurt you... just go." he said joining his hands before her and With that, he brushed past her, his figure disappearing down the hallway, leaving Erica standing alone with tears in her eyes .

Erica took a deep breath as she stepped into the room, the weight of her earlier disappointment still heavy on her heart. She had donated the entire food she had prepared , so that it doesn't get wasted, She hadn't eaten a single bite, her appetite lost in the turmoil of emotions swirling within her.

As she entered, she found Kabir slumped on the couch, a balm in his hand, gently applying it to his forehead. The tension in his brow and the way he winced slightly told her everything she needed to know-he was in pain. Her heart ached for him, and instinctively, she moved closer, her concern overriding her own hurt.

"Let me do it," she said softly, reaching for the balm.

Kabir looked up, his expression a mix of surprise and irritation. He took the balm back from her grasp, his voice clipped. "It's not needed. I can take care of myself, exactly the way I did when you left me in the hospital, when I wasn't even conscious properly. I didn't die then ..So You don't need to worry , this is nothing in front of that....also I'll manage every pain of mine like I always did."
