---------------------------------------------------------Erica groggily sat up in bed, the sunlight streaming through the curtains piercing her eyes like tiny needles. She winced, pressing her palms against her temples, where a pounding headache throbbed with intensity.
The memories of the previous night flickered in and out like a faulty light bulb. Just as she was beginning to calm herself, a soft knock interrupted her thoughts.
"Good morning, mam!" a cheerful voice chimed as the maid entered, a bright smile lighting up her face. She placed a tray on the bedside table with a gentle clatter.
Erica squinted at the tray. "What is this? And where...where is Kabir?" she asked, her voice shaky as she examined the plate of toast and the glass of lemon water.
The maid hesitated, glancing down at the floor as if searching for the right words. "Mam, sir went to the hotel site. He asked me to give you this lemon water. He also said to give you this medicine if your headache persists. And, mam, he said if you feel any problem, I should call the doctor and he asked me to take care of yours sincerely and also make you eat something healthy."
Erica’s heart fluttered listening this . "Kabir said all this?" she asked, her eyes widening with happiness.
"Yes, mam," the maid nodded, still looking at the ground.
Erica felt a rush of warmth spread through her. "Yes... yes... yes! His heart is melting," she whispered to herself, a grin breaking across her face. "Okay you can go now " she said to the maid and she left from there. After she went , Erica In her excitement jumped out of bed, her fists clenched in triumph. But then, like a cold wave crashing over her, dread washed over her as a horrifying realization struck.
"Oh my god! What did I do?" she gasped, her hand flying to her mouth. "Last night, I was so emotional I almost forgot that I’m pregnant! I drank wine... my baby..." The panic surged again, and she felt lightheaded. "What should I do now? God, please, please keep my baby safe! If anything bad happens, Kabir will surely kill me!"
Without a second thought, she dashed to the bathroom, gulping down the lemon water before hastily changing into fresh clothes. She needed to see the doctor—now.

Erica lay on the examination table, her heart racing. The doctor, a kind-faced woman with gentle eyes, moved the sonography machine over her stomach. Erica squeezed her eyes shut, praying fervently to whatever higher power might be listening. “Please, let my baby be safe,” she whispered, clutching the edge of the table.
After what felt like an eternity, the doctor finally spoke, her tone reassuring. “It’s done. You can sit up now.”
Erica opened her eyes, her breath hitching in her throat. “How is my baby, doctor?” she asked, her voice trembling.
The doctor smiled, her expression a mix of relief and caution. “Your baby is fine, luckily. But I must say, this kind of carelessness is not right.”
A wave of relief washed over Erica as she released a breath she hadn’t realized she was holding. “I know, doctor... it was a mistake. I regret my behavior!”
The doctor nodded, her demeanor softening. “Thank God it was a good quality wine with low alcohol content I guess . But make sure this never happens again. It’s not good for the baby’s health.”
“Yes, doctor. I promise. This will never happen again!” Erica replied, determination flooding her voice.
The doctor handed her a few prescriptions. “Do you have any other problems regarding your pregnancy? It’s your first trimester, after all.”
