Chapter 28: Red Chicken

When morning came, Aphmau was awakened hearing arguing. She looked outside and saw that nearly everyone was in the Guard Station. She and Thorgi headed over to see what was going on and there was Laurence, who looked a bit worried till he saw Aphmau and put on a charming smile.

Laurance: " Lady Aphmau! Your beauty is as stunning as ever. But I'm afraid we can't talk about our undying attraction to each other right now."

Aphmau was still a bit half asleep, her hair was still a bit messy and she rolled her eyes when Laurance tried to hit on her right after getting out of bed.

Aphmau: " Right... I just got up, so calm down."

Laurance: " Right, my apologies."

Aphmau: " What's going on, anyways?"

Laurance: " Hayden's daughter is missing, and just about everyone is freaking out about it."

Aphmau's eyes shot open and a concerned look appeared on her face hearing someone disappeared out of nowhere.

Aphmau: " What happened? "

Laurance: " We don't really know, but a few days ago, just right before you arrived. We didn't really think much of it because she always takes care or looks for roses outside of the Village and tends to stay out overnight. But she hadn't come back this morning."

Aphmau: " Maybe I can help."

Laurance: " That would be wonderful, especially since I won't be able to go out and look for her myself. I have to keep the tension between Hayden and Kemmur from getting out of hand."

Aphmau: " Is that why nearly everyone is in each other's throats?"

Laurance: " Yes. Kemmur loves her and Hayden knows about this, and he thinks that Kemmur is behind her disappearance. He thinks that Kemmur wants to run away with her or make it easier for him to win the position of Lord while Hayden is distracted with finding his daughter. But a few others think that Hayden is putting on an act to make it believe that his daughter is gone, and is hidden away so Kemmur could take the blame. I honestly don't know what to do because I know both Hayden and Kemmur, neither one of them would do something like this because they both love her very much. Do you think you can help us, my Love?"

Aphmau: " ... Of course, but NEVER call me "your love" again."

Laurance: " Great. I suggest you talk to both Hayden and Kemmur. I tried to reason with them at first, but it didn't work out, mostly because Hayden's Head Guard Wren is being too stubborn and rude again, but I'm sure they'll let you speak and get some information from the two."

Aphmau looked in the Guard Station, seeing Hayden's Guard who was rude to her the day before name Wren and already snapping at everyone near Hayden like she did to Aphmau when she first came in.

Aphmau: " I'll see what I can do."

Aphmau and Thorgi made their way through the crowd of people to Hayden.

Aphmau: " Hayden! What's going on? Laurance said..."

Before Aphmau could say anything else, Wren jumped in front of her, ready to draw her sword. Thorgi growled and stepped in front of Aphmau, luckily, Hayden stopped her before doing anything.

Hayden: " Wren! Let Her Through!"

Wren: " But Sir Hayden, she's an outsider and has no business jumping into this serious..."

Hayden: " Did I Stutter!? I said let her through!"

Wren looked down for a minute, sharling a bit. She looked over at Aphmau and hinted her head at Hayden, telling her to go over.
